We run through all sorts of snow and ice storms in our Honda Pilot -FWD with no trouble.
The problem is the hills, but with chains you should be fine. It may be easier in a 4WD or AWD, but I think you'll be fine. Brings a tow strap just in case. We used a rental 4WD Toyota Highlander to get around the resorts in Colorado and rarely used the 4x4 feature unless driving up a steep driveway. Biggest factor is your experience driving in this type of weather. |

I hate to burst your bubble, but 4runners are RWD biased and not FWD....

Don't doubt a Toyota in snow. I had an 84 celica gt that went up a 6% grade hill without chains on 6" of fresh snow.

Nope, not the ST165. I had the RA64, 22RE solid rear axle 5sp. All stock except a optima yellow top.

+1 you will definitely struggle in a 2WD SUV unless it has some kind of locking diff in the back. My old Trailblazer was a handful when i put it into 2wd on a snowy day and hills were a def no go.

Just did a quick search on Google and, WTF? ![]() Well at this point we really don't have access to another vehicle, so I guess the RWD 4Runner will have to do. I just read the weather report, it shouldn't be snowing at all so it should be fine.
