2004 g35 sedan saved from being junked 😁

Hi guys, total noob in the infiniti world but I'm here to get some insight and ideas for my new g35 sedan.

I'm a body work specialist/weekend mechanic and I came across a 2004 sedan that was hit pretty bad in the back and was about to be junked due to the owner not having insurance and not being able to pay to have it fixed, it's still got a clean title since it hit a containment wall buts got 185k on the clock now...

I gave 1000 for the car and it drives and does everything it should but it's wrecked in the trunk area, I managed to buy a rear clip from a 06 for 500 with lights and everything and I'm in the process of making one out of the 2 plus I've been buying some audio to put in the car.

Ps.

If this is not the correct place for this thread please let me know where to move it and I hope I get some insight and ideas for my build. Thanks a lot and appreciate the ideas you guys might have for me new little black beast.

That's what I've done so far so it's pretty much a blank canvas to go crazy with it... I'm doing a single quad coil 15" sub in the back with 4 6.5 soundstream pro audio 170rms for the doors, a single 8" soundstream pro audio 230rma where the bose sub used to be and 4 soundstream 1" titanium tweeters @110rms per pair and passive crossover... For amps I'm using a visonik 4000xd old school for the single 15" sub (concept csp-15 quad coil each coil 1000rms), for the 4 6.5's I'm using a re xt1600.2v2 which is one of the last decent re series, for the tweeters and the single 8" I'm using a re xtx500.5 and I might later on add some more mid speakers in the trunk but dunno yet, later on I'll add Picts of the sound goodies.

Good on you to take on such a challenging project, but,,, I would strongly recommend not even thinking about audio until you get the body work and mechanical sorted out. It does have a lot of miles on it, so mechanical is also of a concern, not just body work/rebuilding. Audio would be the last thing I'd think about.

Yeah, pretty cool project you got there. Definitely something to be proud of once you're done.

Thanks, the audio is going in after I fix everything but my main concern is the engine... What sort of preventive maintenance should I do to make sure I keep it running for a little longer ?? There's no check engine light, car starts and runs like a champ, burns out like crazy and sounds great but I'm not sure if the timing chain and other stuff need to be changed to keep it in good condition.

Damn... If hit a containment wall!?

Looks like a great deal is in progress. At 200K miles you are going to want to do the obvious fluid changes (EVERYTHING). Transmissions are ehh on these cars so only do a drain and fill over a few thousand mile interval. No tranny flushes. 04 manual sedans did not have an oil burning issue. Always advisable to keep an eye out.

Also I've never seen a rear clip floating like that so TIL...!

Keep us updated on the progress. I would avoid audio though as it will end up costing more than the value of the car for a kickass system . I wonder if it would have been hell to replace the front clip on my old sedan now that I want back .

A front clip is relatively easy on this cars as the radiator support is all plastic and pretty much bolts on. As far as audio I have a decent system it's not gonna win any db drags but it will sound nice.

Speakers are.

I'm a little bit exited... The car is being pulled either Saturday or Monday and after that the new parts are gonna go on.

Looks like you're in ***** deep. If you can take some pics of the reconstruction process, I'm sure it would be of interest to many including myself.

Of course I will, it has slowed down quite a bit because I messed up my shoulder about a week ago and can't really use it much but hopefully Saturday I'll be able to do something with it... Once the chasis pulling machine is empty at the shop I'll put it right in and pull it.

Looking good so far! Whereabouts in Jersey are you? Do you still have any parts left on that '06 that you cut up? I could use the weatherstripping from the left rear door if it's in good shape.

Nice idea on the sub boxes. There is a company that made something called the 4080 box that was built with the ideal sub in mind for coupes and sedans. They are out of business though and there is a company, Zenclosures, that makes wood boxes (meh quality).

Nice idea on fiber glass.
