trust me until u get on the mat and train u have no idea how physically exhausting mma really is.. boxing requires tons of stamina no argument there but the reason these fighters gas in the first round is your constantly using 100% of ur strength and energy, especially when rolling.. your using ur technique and body strength to over power someone whose trying to do the same to you... theres very little if any time to catch ur breath.

not only that but each fighter has to prepare for stand up and ground game, worry about elbows, take downs, leg kicks, submissions etc.

boxing is more one sided then mma and if you cant see that you kno nothing of the sport and yes boxers do look more professional and thats because boxing is a slower paced sport.. boxers pick their punches and wait to counter kinda like a game of chess where as mma involves knocking someone out or submitting them as quickly as possible.

or better yet if u wanna see real stand up talent watch K1 kickboxing.. one leg kick from anyone of those guys and you'll see a boxer never step in that ring again

Generally average fighters in PPV events make anywhere from 30k - 100k a fight. The numbers go above for the elite level fighters. UFC fighters have maybe 3-4 fights per year tops. Do the math.

The amount of trauma on the body is heavy. Camps are generally 2-4 months depending on how much notification is given.

As for this argument about boxing its gotta stop. I do boxing, muay thai, bjj and a little bit of wrestling. If I want less intensity I do boxing. There is no way anyone can say boxing is more physically demanding then the ones I mentioned. Westernized muay thai incorporates boxing with the thai style kicks. bjj and wrestling you are on the ground trying to manipulate the weight of a person on top of you.

I'm not bashing boxing I like doing it. I have even increased the amount of time I am doing it since it has increased my head movement and hand speed.

The only problem i really have with boxing bashers is when they say 'dude a boxer would get destroyed in the octagon!' NO SH!T! That's like saying the world champion ping-pong player would get his a$$ handed to him by Roger Federer. Its not quite the same people. A boxer in the octagon has as much chance as a mma fighter in the ring.

oh wait I have another problem, when mma'ers say 'most the time boxers are just standing there doing nothing its so boring compared to mma!' there are plenty of boring mma fights also! and i'd rather watch a boring boxing match, at least i don't have to see 2 dudes on top of each other with their nuts rubbing together.

This part is just my opinion i'm not trying to persuade anybody but i'd rather watch an amazing boxing match than an amazing mma fight.

ok last thing why must there be sides to this in the first place? I watch both. I like both. they can both exist. why all the hate from the mma'ers? I watch b-ball more than anything by far, but i follow almost all sports. i don't go around trying to convince people b-ball is the best sport and that some other sport can't compare. why do mma'ers do this?

It's ignorant comments like this that keep the boxing/MMA feud going.

So, to get this thread back on track:

Rampage is crazy. I don't mean crazy as in good or bad äss or any thing else. He's nuts. We know this. This is probably (hopefully) another episode of his. At least he's not "Rampaging" in his truck this time. I seriously hope he doesn't think he has a future in movies, though.

He most likely sees a better future in the movie industry... dana is a sh!tbag so why come back to the ufc when he can make millions doing appearances and movies.. its the obvious choice

i dont blame him, dana is a true dirt bag but i guess what fight promoter isnt. its been known for a while that he doesnt pay the fighter sh!t, the only way fighter can make decent money is if they win incentives, like fight of the night or submission of the night

lets not compare boxing to mma, two completely diff sports, like like comparing the NFL to the MLS because both sports require running

Rampage makes between $150,000-$200,000/fight to show maybe anither $100,000 to win max $300,000/fight. They typically get two fights a year unless they have an injury then only 1 fight/year. So he is making $600,000 per year of course he likely rakes in some endorsments as well.

If he makes $1,500,000-$2,000,000 for one movie thats two to three years worth of fighting in one year. Then he wants to come back after one year off he is still laughing makes sence to at least do one movie and see where it goes.

Don King

Federer made $800,000 his last fight... And that is a bankrupt company.

You guys are basing the amounts of money made by someone like Nate Quarry who never wins 3 times in a row.

Go look up what Silva and what he made from his last fight. Probably around $300k plus bonuses. MAYBE

But that's not what these guys make their money from. Fighting isn't what pays for their billion dollar homes and Ferraris. But nobody has even mentioned it.

SPONSORS

The sponsors are paying them WAAAY more than the UFC ever could.

I wonder if Rampage will lose most of his sponsors or if they will stay on board as he will become even more mainstream now?

I still think it hype, I don't think he is actually leaving. I think they are going to make it seem like he's done. Then he'll knock out Rashad then they'll give him a title shot.

Dana is an idiot but he won't let one of the biggest drawing fighters walk.
