I reupholstered my seat.
Figured I would throw up a quick how to for those looking to fix a damaged seat or just looking to spruce up the look.
Parts: -Fabric of your choice, make sure it has a little bit of stretch -3M Super 77 or 80 spray glue -Staple gun -Scissors -A little patience and 45 min Go to JoAnne fabrics and head to the very back. Clearance section. You'll find deals like this, super glue is not related to this project :lmao ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Fabric is 1 square yard of a dark dark blue denim. I was looking at various vinyls, but with the contours of the seat, it would be extremely difficult to work with when using a completely flat piece of material. Start by pulling the staples ![]() Take the seat cover off and lay it on the fabric and cut out a square. Dimensions of the square I cut are 19" x 21". I then put the seat cover back on the seat. I have done a few of my bikes before and have found that when it come times to spray the seat foam with the spray glue, the foam tends to soak up the glue a bit leaving it less tacky. ![]() After you have put the seat cover back on the bike, lay your fabric square down and try to make it as even as possible on all sides, then fold the fabric half way back. ![]() Take your spray glue..... ![]() .....and spray the seat ![]() Let the glue tack up for about 15-30 sec and then smoothly spread the fabric back down. ![]() After you let the glue set for about 2 min, fold the other side up until you see a little bit of the glue you just sprayed down. Let the glue tack up and then spread it back down. Make sure it's bubble and wrinkle free. ![]() Flip the seat over and start pulling the fabric around the edges, making sure the sides are tight, and then grab a staple gun and fire away. The way I did it was I would pull, staple, move down ~3" and staple again. Making sure to continually pulling the fabric somewhat tight, but you don't have to pull super tight. ![]() ![]() When you get to the round parts, don't feel bad about making folds under the seat, overlapping fabric, or having a bunch of extra fabric. As you staple along you will see the extra fabric that will be left, just grab the scissors and snip it off. ![]() Pull, staple, pull, fold a little to make the turn, staple, pull, staple.....and repeat. ![]() 45 minutes later............. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Done. Is it absolutely perfect, no. Will you be able to see the imperfections with the seat on....doubt it. Can't beat a fresh seat for $1! |

looks like a 2000-2003 GSXR seat....
It would be cool to see a pic of it on the bike.
