My new G35XS
Hi guys,
Thanks for all the great info on here. It helped me narrow my search for a new used car. My car search was down to the following:
2007+ G35/37 X with Sport Package
2006-2009 Subaru Legacy GT or 3.0R Limited
2008+ Saab 9-3 Aero or X preferably w/ V6 turbo.
All needed to have AT, less than 80k miles and less than $15k. Hard to do for all of these actually.
All good cars. Sure, all have their issues.
A G35XS in Blue Slate was at the top of my list, but had been looking for several months with no luck on that combo that had less than 80k miles. Lots of G35/37's with 100k+ in the Seattle and Portland markets. There was a really nice 2008 Silver 9-3 Aero X V6 in Spokane with low miles and great price. It sold in under 2 weeks despite Saab being out of business, so obvious warranty issues. I would have pulled the trigger on it if I would have had time to get there.
But, luckily, a Blue Slate G35XS popped up at BMW Seattle that only had 70k and and internet special price of $13,999. I offered $13,500 and they agreed. Feel pretty good about it actually. It needs a few things (putting tires on it next week), but $13.5 is pretty darn good for this one.
It has the Navigation, Premium and Sport packages so nearly all the bells and whistles and drives very nice. The old Potenzas are a little loud and catch the ruts so new tires will be good. I'll put new brake pads on it in a couple months.
It has some door dings on the passenger side and the tire pressure indicator is stuck on. From reading here, that looks to be a common issue and so wasn't a deal breaker for me.
Really like the way you can drive this V6 laid back or on fire. It performs either way. My wife's 2015 Volvo S60 T5 AWD turbo 5 cyl with Sports package (Volvo gives you lower stance, swaybar and 19"s with Sports package) is quicker around corners, quicker to 30MPH, but the G35XS is no slouch. It's quicker to 60 and does pretty well considering the Sports package doesn't really give you a different suspension. I'm pretty damn happy to have this as my commuter!
I don't have any good pics yet, so here's the dealer pic.
