Bainbridge Island?

Its my GF's last weekend here before she goes back to school in chicago, asking around, people mentioned taking her to Bainbridge Island would be a good place to go for a day trip. From my understanding, you take a ferry across. So, being that I've never been there, I had a few questions. Is it a good idea to take the car across on the ferry, or park it and walk around the island. Is that even possible? If I take a car, do you recommend leaving the G35 at home and taking her RAV4? I don't want it to get damaged on the ferry or anything. Finally, what are some good recommendations for things to do on the island?
TIA
-Hai

Not sure about Bainbridge. . .

but I've been to Whidbey a BUNCH of times with the G. The entire drive is very "car friendly" and enjoyable if you go all the way north to the Deception Pass. If you don't want to take the car back south, you can always head inland at the way north end and take I5 back south.

On Whidbey, things to do:
Whidbey Island Winery
There's a little market thing between Coupeville and Freeland
Fort Casey and Fort Ebey state parks. . .lots of good views. . .
a few nice restaurants in Oak Harbor

If you hop on the ferry over to Port Townsend from Whidbey, there are a bunch of little restaurants and shops too.

It's all pretty quaint. . LOL Pretty, and quaint.

Sorry it's kinda off topic, but just more options for ya.

I'm sure you'd get some BEAUTIFUL views of downtown Seattle from Bainbridge though.

Best to ya, whatever you decide to do!

if your car is lowered, i personally wouldnt do it. ITs hard to hit a good angle on the ferry. Bainbridge island is nice but dont walk lol the island is bigger than you think, and when you get off the ferry it doesnt put you exactly down town.
Im not sure what there is to do but i like crusing to the main part of town and parking there and walking around. Nice place, driving through is great on the eyes since its beautiful there
have fun bro

I went and just walked around downtown. Lots of good shopping with a wide variety of things. The food was okay at the one restaraunt we tried, but they lost our order so it took them almost an hour to get our food. There are also alot of parks near the water with good views of downtown. I think the ferry was the best part though, especially when coming back to seattle. You get a great unobstructed view of all the buildings. I couldn't find the winery though, I think they moved from their old location that was in our guide. Its some housing complex now
