1998 Ford Explorer XLT 2WD

I'm selling our 1998 Ford Explorer XLT. It's been a great truck but time to move on to something with 4WD . My wife bought it brand new off the lot before we met, and it's been very well cared for, garaged for over half it's life, and still looks great.

$2,900

- RWD
- 226,xxx miles (and counting. I daily drive it to work 45mi round trip)
- Automatic
- 4.0 SOHC V6. Great motor. Torquey. Bulletproof. Many run for over 500,000 miles
- Tow package (included Limited Slip Differential and rear-end with lower gearing)
- Leather
- Power locks & driver seat (with lumbar)
- Upgraded Sony CD player w/ aux input and remote (have OE unit. It works but display is out)
- Rear A/C and heat
- Roof rack
- All maintenance records since 1998

THE GOOD:
- 1 Owner
- Paint is still in great shape overall
- Leather seats have no tears or scuffs...just a little wear on the front seats' leather after 17yrs
- A/C and heat work well
- Shocks upgraded to 4x4 Ranchos
- Oil changes done regularly every 3000-4000 miles
- New water pump, thermostat, lower plenum seal, & serpentine belt at 182,500
- Replaced alternator at 192,000
- Replaced radiator and hoses at 199,000
- Replaced fuel filter at 211,500
- Replaced front brake rotors, and pads at 218,000
- Replaced catalytic converter at 220,700
- Replaced lower ball joints, upper control arms, tie rod ends, sway bar end links, and wheel bearings at 221,000. Rides like a new truck!
- New battery at 222,500
- Cruise control buttons replaced this week
- Fresh oil change

THE BAD:
- Usual paint chips on leading edge of hood
- "Chrome" grill insert is bubbling a little
- Two or three small dings
- A few carpet stains on the floor (a couple big coffee and coke spills), but floor mats are still like new
- Small oil leak for past 100k miles. Doesn't seem to be getting worse. Only a half-quart low by every oil change
- One oddball tire which was replaced when the front suspension was redone. A blown ball-joint had ruined the old tire. Three tires have 4/32"-5/32" tread left (10.5/32" new). The oddball tire has 8/32".

Send me a PM if you're interested.
