I'm sick of these IS350 forum comparos

Alright lets get facts straight (no im not a blind Infiniti fanboy)
The IS350 with sport and some options will Msrp for around 44k, the G with those options will MSRP for 34k

Thats 10Gs on Infinitis favor

now all u people seem to care about accel of the IS350
well for 6.5k i can go FI
for .5k i can do my suspension mods (ie 350z suspension and stillen sways)
and then i can maybe buy wheels, or keep the extra 3k to myself while smoking the IS350 in style (in my opinion the car is fugly, looks like a hyundai sonata, toyota camry, and GS had a threesome and plopped this IS350 out)

alright, given that the interior is a bit better but...

The price range on the IS varies quite a bit depending on the options you have. The base IS350 starts at 36K. The first option pack you can get (the one I got) is the Premium Pack which includes wood trim, 18" wheels, a/c seats, and a/s floor mats. If you don't want that, you can get into one hell of a car for the same general price as the G. For me, it was the same $, more room, more power, and a fresh body style. It was a no brainer. I didn't want any options, but ended up getting the prem pack car for base price.

Now if you want to get stupid, you can option the car all the way out to 50K with Mark L stereo, Nav, blender (well not really), etc. Your certainly entitled to your opinion, but I love the car and I love beating G's like I use to have. Funny to see the look on coupe owner faces when you take them in an auto sedan. Sport mode with the paddle shifters is killer.

It goes without saying that newer cars are improvements of years past. So of course the new IS350 is going to have more power and nicer interior than previous cars. Hopefully with the new introduction of the restyled G35, it will give the IS a good run for its money. But in the end, to each his own and whatever floats your boat is what really matters. And if that includes boosting your G35 and blowing past a IS350 on the highway leaving the driver thinking "My car is newer, how the hell did that phat @ss G35 beat me?" then thats up to your discretion. I personally agree with skyline in regards to the lexus look. Seems like the styles from lexus and toyota are blending together more so than an Infiniti and Nissan. But thats only MY OPINION. I think Hyundai caught on with lexus's styling and picked up the ball and now is running with the idea. Automobile styling has come a long way. Cars today are freakin beautiful...except the eclipse.....

But i wouldnt want a lexus cause it seems everyone likes the name more than the car its self... I sure hope no one out there names their kid Infiniti......

It will be a more fair comparison soon as the new 2007 G35 comes out... As it is now its a new car vs a 4 year old car..

IS350 faster and better interior and in my opinion for people over 45 years old. No communication in the steering compare to the G, soft, its like a mini GS but faster. I think it would be a great car for my dad, but for me? no thanx.

That's exactly why you'll see far more G's than IS's..

Just to be fair... you can get an IS 1-2K above invoice in Socal. Some people are now getting @invoice price for 06, and under invoice for 250 MT (rare tho; and those are not demo car either). And if you have relatives who works for Toyota/Lexus, you can get any IS for 1.5K under invoice, which is a pretty good deal, IMO.

But overall, IS is still a bit more expensive than G35.

Anyhow, there are still many people out there prefer a comfort ride with luxury and quiet interior rather than a sporty ride etc.

Even without any mods, a stock IS 350 has pretty good performance for a heavy "sport" sedan, 0-60@ 5.3sec is quick, 1/4mil @ high 13s isnt bad either, right?

The 2nd gen Lexus IS is clearly targeting different customers than Infiniti G for sure. In fact, I felt like Lexus is trying to beat MB C-class while the G is competing with BMW 3-series. although all of them are competing in the same compact-luxury-sedan segment, they are built for customers with different need.

And yes, my friend whom sell used car in Socal (for over 10 years) tells me that Acura TSX, TL, 3-series and IS300 hold better re-value than G35 SEDAN (not coupe). He said there are simply too many used (unsold) G35 sedan on the market... and the "branding" thing is also a factor. So, re-sale value might also be a considerable factor for buying a Lexus.

Price wise, the IS250 is the direct competitor to the G35 sedan. Performance wise, the IS350 is the competitor to the G35 sedan. I think that says alot about the G35.

^^agreed. IMO, that says ALOT of our G! It's a great combo of value/performance.

The IS350 is a newer design but so what. The G35 is still a competitor and still much cheaper than the IS350. You can step into a G35 sedan with a 6mt, 300hp, 18 wheels, sport suspension, and luxury for $30k or maybe less like I did. Everyone thinks I spent much more on the car which is awesome. That just doesn't work if you drive a 330i or IS350. People think you spent a lot and you did.

Hyundai has been stealing design cues for a long time, the old Sonatas used to look pretty damn close to a Jag, and now they look pretty damn close to the camry/is series. At least Nissan didn't slap an Infiniti badge on a Maxima and say "Look it's a M35!! That'll be an extra $10k please." It doesn't do the brand much good when you can park the low end brand next to the high end and not see much/any difference at all. A good example of that is the 95-99 Maxima/I30s. I love the car, but they certainly weren't trying very hard to make them stand apart back then.
