New GTR article in Sport Compact Magazine!!

In this months Sport Compact Magazine, they have an article on the new GTR...supposed to be estimated 480hp and 500tq..its supposed to beat out the corvette z06, ford gt40, viper srt 10 and the porsche 911 turbo..the fastest of those cars was the porsche and it hits the quarter in 11.4 and the magazine said that the new gtr should beat that out.it said a revised version of the vq 3.5 liter but the engine code was vq32dett??(3.2L or 3.5L?). it had some more info in it but i only got to take a quick glance at it...i might buy it tomororw or something...

Remember that was a guess from SCC on it being a TT and 3.2 liters. Hopefully it will be...

I am curious...

We are talking some high end cars here:
corvette z06= 80k
ford gt40= 150k
viper srt 10=80k
porsche 911 turbo=100k(which ran a 12 flat 1/4mile time not 11.4; that was the carrera GT=500k)

So what does that mean for the cost of the GT-R??

That's all just an estimation, nothing different than what everyone here is doing. We all know it's going to have upwards of 400hp and some kind of fi. I think the biggest hurdle in performance is going to be weight. Making 500hp seems to be easy these days, but making a light car with awd, gadgets, comforts, and safety is not. The G35c already hits the scales at around 3500lbs. It's going to be tough to beat the Z06 with it's 3100lbs of weight and 500hp.

Exclamation yes, but rememmber...

...The GTR is not using an existing nissan/infinity platform (http://g35driver.com/forums/attachme...9&d=1134085444) so there is little reason to believe that it could not compete with the vette's curb weight.

the magazine said the new porsche 911 turbo which is $130,000 ran an 11.4, it made not mention of the Carrera GT. Maybe it was a typo in the magazine...i dunno

There is no way it will compete with the vette's weight... The GT-R will be much more luxurious than what the Z06 will ever be..plus have 2 extra seats...I predict the GT-R will be around 3300 Lbs....Heavier than the Z but lighter than the G because of carbon fiber use...

in the mag it also states that the GT-R will cost around $70,000.00 . not a bad price and just out of reach for me, unless i can sell my wifes car

the b/f and I got into a discussion about this. He says he's really hard pressed to believe that GT-R will beat any of those cars on the list. He said these are just numbers off the dyno and the hp rating really doesn't mean much.

I'm going to expect Jeremy Clarkson and his boys at Top Gear will take Nissan on their dare and put it through their course with Stig. I'm sure they got the lap numbers from all of the aforementioned cars. We'll see where the GT-R lies.

Please guys lets not get ahead of ourselves by saying the GTR will beat the Z06, thats going to be next to impossible no matter what some punk says here...

Z06 is a purpose built sports car...GTR would be in between the Regular C6 vette and the C6Z06..so it would be around 3300-3500 lb and with 450-480 hp, pretty much matching the specs from the 911 TT and thats it..I think it would be closer to the C6 than the Z06 so 25% better than the C6 and about 75% slower than the Z06

0-60 in just about 3.9-4.0 secs
0-100 Z06 will kill the GTR
around a track we can expect the times to be much different

if the Tires used are Sports Ultra high performance tires then the things might change a little and if the same tires are used by the z06 then its death even for the 997 GT2, so lets no under estimate the awesome power of the C6Z06...against the GTR..
