05 5AT vs 04 6MT

What would it take for the 05 5AT to beat the 04 6MT?

Just wondering..

all the imaginable bolt ons, but still it would be hard after 80mph.

^ ha ha ^

you don't need any bolt ons - just run with a little less weight (spare tire, less gas, lighter driver!). AT has a bit more drivetrain loss - that's about it. despite all the MT hoopla, it's a driver's race and if the MT doesn't make perfect shifts, the AT will win.

no the 6mt is way faster.. its not only the drivetrain loss its also the gear ratios.. 6 gears in the mt as opposed to 5 in the at..

+1, gear ratios make a world of difference.

It's *all* about the driver. Period.

My car is considerably faster in both the 1/8 and the 1/4 than my wife's. But when we go head-to-head, I lose about 1/2 the time. Mostly because she just psyches me out. Regardless, the performance is close enough that one screw-up on either side hands the race over to the other.

HAHA, all this talk about my coupe is faster than a sedan... My 5at sedan is just as fast as every coupe i've ever gone up against, even the 6mt's. You just gotta know how to drive it.

Want a complete curve ball?

035AT sedan kicking a 05 6MT coupe's butt every head-to-head, then losing by less than a car length to an 06 5AT coupe to 70. Maybe my friends have weird cars, but they're consistant.
