Interesting Question

Hey guys just wondering, once and for all lol..what is our car considered (the g35 coupe) performance wise??..because u guys might have seen my other thread when i took it to the track, with a few minor mods, and was running mid 14s..is that pretty fast?? i think its listed in those car and driver mags as 14.2 stock. some friends were running low 13s mid 13s BUT they had performance cars and ours is more of luxury car and i always here people saying the g is slow but then people r like, thats bc they compare it to high performance cars like m3, evo, sti..which is different class..but just wondering what class the g coupe is and how it is rated as a sports/luxury car..thanks

I'd say low end of the luxury GT. (Low end isn't bad considering high end would be something like an Aston Martin Vanquish and midrange is 650i)

You need to compare it to other cars in its class and price, and then it is pretty quick for what it is and what it costs. It's primary competition is the BMW 330 coupe, and to a lesser extent, the Lexus IS 350 (it is a 4-door however). It easily beats its primary competitor, the 330 coupe, while it costs less, and arguably looks better.

Are there faster cars out there for the same price? Absolutely. Are any of them in the same class/category as the G35 Coupe? Nope.

The G isn't fast but it can hold its own fairly well so don't sweat it you bought a great all around car that has slightly above average performance and beautiful looks.
