New M5

I got the call today that my new M5 is in the Halifax Port. That puts it 3 weeks away according to my salesman. PDI and tinting should take a few days, so I should be picking it up when I return from Hawaii on Aug 29. I will post pics when it is here. I was at a golf tournament yesterday and a guy I met just got his new M6. This beast sounds like a Ferrari when he is going through the gears. I think this is going to be fun.

My son is equally excited because he takes my coupe when my car arrives. It is all good

Dude you are gonna love that car. I played around with one on the streets not too long ago in my G. I worked him off the line , but the time I hit second gear he had an easy 5+ car lengths on me. The car sounded so mean. Congrats!

They tell me that this is disabled until the first oil change. RPM is limited to 4500 and h.p. to 400 until 1200 miles. Then it's all fun and games

I am in Halifax and would be happy to bring it to you or at least go make sure it is in good shape and works fine!

Congrats Telgramsam and good luck with the M5. Make sure your son takes good care of the G.

Great car... PDI will only take a hour.. i did a PDI on one the other week... boy is that car fun to drive... the SMG is a lil tricky , have someone show you how do adjust the settings... PM Finiti35 she can explain how to adjust the SMG to your liking... cant wait to see the pics

BTW... be ready to take it in for the recall they have for one of the hoses... i forgot which one (i think its a collant hose) but it tends to hit the fan... also be prepared to bring it in for a SZL module replacement (which is the steering angle sensor) those tend to go bad real quick on the e60's

gtr4bm, I think I will like SMG, I have heard good things and it is suppose to be very quick.

RJsd7, milage sucks. EPA is 13 City 20 Highway. But I have been told if you can afford the car, don't bitch about the milage

DaVeeD, I have heard about the problems and as long as the dealer deals with them professionally, I am prepared for a few hiccups. Thanks for the note on the recall, I will make sure to ask to have it dealt with before delivery.

misSxhuStLer, My son is more excited than I am I think. He should be, my coupe is a great looking car and it happens to be his favorite. My lease buy out is way below market value so he is getting this car real cheap. I will have to take pics of the stable when the M5 comes. Three white cars and a midnight blue FX35.

With regard to the delivery offers, thanks guys but line up behind my buddies here who have offered to fly east and pick it up for me. I like to pass around the pleasure so once I break this in, a bunch of us are going to rent the local race track and my closest friends will all get a run to see what she will do. I have budgeted for a set of rear tires

This was a tough choice. I really wanted a Z06 but that would have meant a winter car which would have put 5 cars at our house and that just did not make sense. I can always get the Z06 when my son moves out once college is over. I still think the Z06 is the best bang for the buck hands down, it looks good and it is faster than most exotics.

You probably know this already, but if you drive the M5 in the snow, be sure to get a set of really good snow tires for the winter.
