Got Smoked by a Neon!

I was in SoCal this past weekend and the most horrid thing happened to me. I was stopped at a red light in the outskirts of a residential area around 11'oclock at night, just minding my own business. Then out of nowhere I hear this roar and crackle, reminiscent of an autistic child yelling at a bag of microwave popcorn. I looked to my left...Nothing. Looked to my right...And there it was. A Dodge neon with a couple of racing stickers that really had me shakin in my boots and tirefly neon lights on the rims made me quiver. I noticed the HEMI emblem pasted to the side of car and slid down in my seat a little hoping the driver would not notice me. It was too late. The gig was up and this seasoned veteran street racer wanted a piece of me. I could tell he was a Vet, by the "No Fear" sticker plastered to the side window. He revved his engine a couple more times to let me know it was on. Sweat trickled down my forehead as I knew as soon as that light turned green the beast next to me would be unleashed. And then it happened, the light turned green and with a more snap crackle and pop than rice crispies the Neon was plowing its way through the intersection. I eased of the brake and gave my car some gas with the hopes of catching up to this monster on wheels before it was out of sight. I reached a cruising speed of about 30mph and I was starting to gain on him but then I think those stickers and custom emblems started to kick in because he proceeded to leave me in the dust. I was able to catch up to this racing god at the next light and he rolled down his window and asked what happened with a devilish grin on his face. I proceeded to say, "If you have a piece of S%!t bike and you put a baseball card in the spokes it is nothing more than a loud piece of S#!t, Here's a hint, its still a f&@%ing Neon!!" I drove of when the light turned green and heard nothing but silence as the POS Neon had not bothered to rev up his pea shooter as the big gun drove off.

...i dont ever want to hear the words "got smoked by a neon" ever again

ever...

as for your comment about it being a neon..with enough money spent (though i dont see why anyone would ever) it could probably take a stock g

i have no idea how much hp its pushin but think about this..an integra with 600+ hp to the wheels..

that just shows that if you have enough money just about anything is possible..

i know this is something we all never want to think about or hear..but anythings possible with enough money and enough knowledge about cars..(almost..)

but cause i doubt this neon was boosted..i really hope it didnt "smoke you"

btw if that entire post was sarcastic..well then yeh..im terrible and picking up sarcasm (which is why im not majoring in english!) lol

probably an SRT-4 Dont underestimate the speed of them, they are quick... and you dont have to do much to them to make them fast.

From experience at the track.........a lot of these "Neons" are undercover SRT4's and I have personally watched a stage 3 SRT4 take down a Viper. Yes it was a 1/4mile and the Viper would have ran him down once they passed 150mph, but still..........you cant sleep on those cars they are quick once modified.

How long did it take for you to reach 30mph...30 secs? Must've been one hell of a slow race.

A "Plymouth" Neon (that is the way it was badged) took first place in the Motorsports NE autocross yesterday. It was plain black but the blow-off valve gave it away!

Say what you want, but my buddy has a SRT4 and that thing is fast. Of course it has been completely modified, but it hauls ***. Now that being said, he would trade me for my G any day of the week. He wants to get one, but just bought his wife the M45 so it will be a while. Like it was said earlier, you can fix up a 90 CRX to run fast, but it is still an ugly peice and I wouldnt ever want one.

seriously... i have a friend who got one.. all he did was go to home depot and get a strong spring for his waste gate.. $5 for him another 5psi, and with a larger innercooler dropped him from 20 to 19psi, but still thats a lot compared to the stock 15psi. Second off hes running on 3" downpipe and an intake.. and just with these mods hes taking out Evo's and Sti's... so yes careful with the neons... our cars can bearly take on stock.. i've smoked my share of them already but they were mostly stock... modded ones are fast.
