BMW has officially announced 2007 335i sedan with 300hp
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25212
Today BMW has finally announced official pricing for 2007 335i sedan. For $2,100 price increase from current 330i, you'll get 300hp and 300 lb-ft twin turbo charged engine good for 5.4 sec. Since BMW's number is relatively conservative, I think the car can do very low 5 sec, or even 5.0 sec, from 0-60. 335i will start at $38,700. I'm among the few who haven't decided between this 335i and 2007 G35. I'm sure G35 will be at least $5k cheaper but I'll have to test drive both before I can decide. If I add "minimum" option on 335i with Sport Pkg ($1,600) and Tiptronic ($1,275, for my wife to drive once in a while...), the final price will be $41,575. I'll skip the Premium Pkg and loose the leather, but I don't care about leather anyway. Xenon and Sunroof will still be standard on 335i. It will be interesting see comparison test on all new BMW 335i, Infiniti G35 and Lexus IS350. |

While were on it, I'm sure some of you heard about the 300+ HP Acura TL w/SH-AWD reporting to be in the works. Some are saying '07 but I bet this is for '08. Hopefully this will be at least a 60/40-f/r split and not so FWD bias.

I think this was all that was needed to keep BMW on the top of the pack... This SH-AWD TL sounds interesting.. I'll believe it when I see it although I'd have leased a different car by the time it came out!

For sometime, many current BMW drivers refused to believed that BMW would introduce entirely new engine on the current 330i that has been in the market for only one year with already new 255 hp engine.
I bet there are still many uninformed people who are buying current 330i sedan not knowing their brand new car will be outdated and underpowered car in less than couple months.... What a pity.. BMW would never increased their hp so soon without the pressure from Lexus and Infiniti with their 306 hp engine. No matter how well the current 330i handles, it simply cannot keep up with the new IS350 and new G35. |

Awesome...this is good news. I'm also excited to find out what Acura is going to do with their TL. There is all kinds of crazy speculation going on in the Acura forums, but at this point its still speculation. Only time will tell.

It's about time Acura to wake up and finally do something serious with their TL. Although the current TL is a nice sedan, it is nothing but cosmetically-improved Accord with some upgrades. With its current front wheel drive layout, nobody is taking it seriously as genuine sport sedan. The current RL was kind of disappointment for being too small with only V6 engine in its class. For $50K, would you buy Infiniti M45 or Acura RL? Maybe Acura has learned the lesson.

WOW..... will be on the market October 06.....
Infiniti might have to entice the public a little, might get some potential sales gobbled up if they release in the November as planned. |

....isn't it ironic that merely a few years ago BMW stated that "FI is the cheap way to power."

I'll still go with a G. I don't think the lower end bimmers are worth the extra $7K-$10K.
Unless I'm looking at 545i and higher, it's a waste of extra money imo Infiniti is a great car, reliable, fully loaded and beyond, and you still pay less. mo. |

I agree. Not worth extra money.... But to some people on the fence about G and 3, it might be! I'm more so hoping Infiniti feels the pressure and release more info, maybe even drop some product in Oct!

335i v. IS350 price comparison
Here's an apples to apples comparison between the 335i and the IS350. Looks like the 335i has about a $3500 premium. Not bad, especially considering that the options are more a la carte in the BMW than in the Lexus, so you don't have to get a lot of the unnecessary stuff if you don't want.
I think a similarly optioned 2007 G35 will be about $40,000. 2007 335i Sedan: Base: $38,700 Freight: $695 Premium Pack: $2450 Auto Tranny: $1275 Heated Seats: $500 Metallic paint: $475 Navi: $2100 Comfort Access: $500 Parking Control: $350 Power Sunshade: $575 Total: $47,620 2006 IS350: Base/Freight: $36,030 Luxury Pack: $3495 Navi/Levinson: $3990 Parking Assist: $500 Total: $44,015 |

The 335 is going to be a monster. 300 ft/lbs of torque starting at 1500RPM though 4500RPM.
Add in BMW is always conservative with their numbers. More efficient drive train. etc etc. The IS and G are only going to see tail lights I'm afraid. |
