Nissan over rated hp too :p

under the new SAE rating, the 280hp and 298hp rev-up motor both lost 5 hp.
not nearly as bad as what some Honda and Toyota cars lost when they conformed to the new SAE standard last year.

2007 G sedan and Coupe and other Infiniti specs

Interesting... I wonder if they simply detuned it for emissions or something. Becasue if you follow this link which is on the same site, it shows that the 280hp was actually measured with the new SAE standard.

Oh well... I'm not going to cry over 5hp.

Supposedly Acura overrated their TL by like 20 HP.

From that perspective, we aren't soo bad off

per wikipedia's page:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mazda_RX-8

In late 2003 Mazda issued a press release stating that the actual horsepower of the RX-8 was up to 5% less than previously advertised. Mazda offered to buy back any of the affected vehicles sold in the United States. Those who chose to keep the cars were given other incentives such as free maintenance, parts, and accessories.

So if this is true.. .where is the "inevitable" class action suit for fraud... i'm sure it's just a matter of time.... just my 2 cents...

by the way the 5% difference on the rx-8's 232HP= 11.5HP....

I hear the '20 coupe is going to have 2 million horsepower all motor stock...

Finally I'll be able to trade in my space ship... I'm tired of having to take that around everytime santa clause needs a ride.

Nissan didn't lie about the HP like Mazda did. The SAE testing methodolgy has changed.

Unless Mazda quoted on an SAE standard in the beginning and mislead everyone (like some manufacturers did in the past) there is no fraud from Mazda; the manufacturers just finally decided to use the SAE methoud as a standard so everyones numbers had to change and reflect that standard for all and in the interest of customer satisfaction they decided to do the right thing and I must say that is admirable for a car company to do, they did not have to do this...
There are many ligitimate ways to guage horsepower and torque, now there is one standard so you can compare 'apples to apples' so to speak. This has been argued and needed for a long time, you should be happy it has now been done.
