Test Drove e92 335i MT and AT

Well yesterday at work... two brand new e92 335i's rolled off the truck and into my bay. First one i test drove was the 6MT. The MT is a must for this car.

You can feel the turbos start to kick in around 3k. The over all handling is better than a e46 330i but not as good as a e46 M3. Speed wise... its not faster than a e46 M3. It also weights more than a M3. As for the AT... it was still fun to drive... just mash the gas and you start moving pretty fast, faster than a 5AT G =(

The interior of the car was well put together (same as e90)...they have these automatic arms to come out of the rear interior panel to give you easy access to the seat belt when you enter the car. Built in aux for ipod connectivity

Only thing i dont like about the e92's so far is the stock wheel selection... maybe it was just those two that came with fugly stock wheels... and BMW put these nasty reflectors on the front bumper (tacky IMO...but i think its required by law) Another thing that bothers me is that they look so skinny...they need to widen the stance a lil bit. The looks havent grown on me yet... but im sure they will.

hmmmmm that's strange!

I spend extended seat time in both yesterday.
While I agree completely that the 6MT is a must;
I totally disagree about the turbos!!!!

From my drive the turbos are very transparent.
Most people driving this car wouldn't even know it's turbo if you didn't tell them.

It may come slightly more on cam at about 3K... I suspect that's what you felt.

But the turbos kick in with full boost at ~1300 rpm
This think is balzz to the wall right from the get go.

Im pretty sure everyone knows our 5AT is slower than the 335i's 5AT... HOWEVER, give me the price difference and TRUST, I will on that car and love EVERY second

i actually didnt like the 6MT at all... the clutch was too light and the shift were too long throw. i'd prefer the 6AT for the 335i, non M car manual just doesnt do it.

as for the turbo, i can feel a little bit of lag, but it was so minimal which was like the 997 Turbo. but, i can not hear the turbos at all. the power delivery was so smooth that it really did felt like a big V8 instead of a turbo 6. BMW really did a great job with this engine. comparing to the G35... this thing just absolutly kills it. there is actually power at any RPM with the 335i

i just cant wait for mine to come in.
