Wow! Look At these 1/4 times.

I was searching around to compare 1/4 mile times of the IS350 and 2007 G35. I found this site that has nothing but drag times and punched in the IS350. There are people getting 13.1 with just an exhaust! When the aftermarket hits for theses cars they will be in the low 12's easy. And this is with an auto!
Here is the link. When you go there you can also click on the time and it shows you the time slips.

A 105mph trap is healthy indeed, but look at the timeslip; that was in February. It was probably excellent weather. No IS350 with just an exhaust is going to trap 105+ in 80 degree weather.

I'm not taking anything away from the car; it's obviously faster than the current G.

Another note - notice that while it's trapping 105 in the 1/4, it's trapping 84 in the 1/8; it's only picking up 21mph in the top-end. If you look at the gearing of the IS, it's more aggressive in the first 3 or 4 gears than the g. I bet if a tock IS did a top-end run against a stock g from a roll(in a controlled environment of course ), it would be a dead heat.

Low 13s ? That's M3/Cayman smoking. Hell, that's up there. How the hell are they getting those #s?
What does the IS put to the rear tires? I could see high 13s.
I'm guessing gearing is a major factor here, given the 105mph trap speed. I would have expected something closer to around 110mph with that trap time.

I'll be very impressed if an IS350 can do a low 12s without a basketball sized turbo or two. And even then traction would seemingly be a major issue on that car.

Low 12s is 997Turbo/C6Z06 territory=- I'm sorry, I just doubt we'll be seeing IS350s there without some serious high-dollar mods.

Here are some test results from Edmunds:

1/4: 13.7
Trap Speed: 104
Again, 13.1 with a 105 trapspeed doesn't add up. Either the car is a jet off the line and then falls on it's face or I'm missing something.

x2

It doesn't make sense, whereas 13.7 @ 104mph does. MT returned 13.9 @ 103mph for the G35, so it isn't far behind. And I do believe that in the higher gears, I think the new G35 would start to pull on the IS.

I do. I read the thread over on clublexus(IIRC) back when he did it. It was more than just an exhaust. He also had pretty much gutted the car; removed everything from the trunk, even the lining and sound deadening, and IIRC, removed some seats as well.

Although a 13.1@105 is hard to swallow with a 1.996 sixty foot. It's all in the gearing.

iirc it was not gutted.
in any case, the car just seems to launch really well... and 260-ish whp with gearing to match just seals the deal

Yeah I read that too, he did a bunch of weight reduction to get those times, I thikn he still had his seats because I remember him saying he was gonna do more weight reduction and try to hit 12.9

the guy who ran 13.1 had an LMS exhaust, fully gutted trunk, and remvoed rear seat.

Yea, that would equate to some nice weight savings. Anyone know why this guy bought an IS and then proceeded to gut it? If you wanted a good drag car, you could gut a mustang and mod it for a lot less and achieve better results.

I highly doubt he gutted the car for every day use; probably just a track thing.

The guy second on the list with a 13.362 said he just removed the spare tire and jack. Also there is a picture of the guys car that ran a 13.1 and I can still see the headrests in the back seat.
