It IS coming out. That picture was taken during a photoshoot in front of a credit union in LA.

Why would you guys care? It will be FWD and only 260-270hp... not in the same class as the G at all. There will also be cloth seats and 4cyls as options. Relax you guys.

This could also be a preview of the "production" Skyline 350GT coupe...

I have read the tread and the originator probably didn't really know what it was. He is probably assuming it is an Altima because of the headlights.

If that's the case, ours look much better.

Who would want a cheaper, mainstream car that looks identical to the luxury sport car you paid much more for?

I'm not convinced that this the Altima coupe. There has been very little news of an Altima coupe and I doubt this model comes out of no where to being this complete. The side profile is way too simmilar to the current G to be taken seriously.

That brings up one question. For those who can afford a GT-R, would you have faith to sink $80K not knowing if Nissan Motor is gonna pull the same a few years down the road?

current owners didnt get screwed...they can get the new G. i wouldnt say most people are living that far above their means, that they cannot stay in this class of car. in fact, id guess that those that go downward (not by choice) are the minority. so yes, id say that most people here will be 'upgrading' from their current car.

the new altima is just that, an altima. people are acting as if this is a copy of the G. I suppose thats true for all intents and purposes for most- most people buy cars for how they look and how fast they are in a line and little more. Fact is, the Altima is not a G. The Altima is front wheel drive. It's economy oriented. It may be just as fast as the current G in a line, but that's where its competitiveness ends. it will not feel the same, nor will its overall performance be similar. its not based on the FM platform. there's a lot more to a car than its body, and even that wont be the same. look at the front of the altima and tell me it holds a candle to even a G sedan. it doesnt. and this is before we get to the inevitable bastardizations that nissan loves to do- from a couple feet of wheel gap to flat expanses of panels.

again, this will definitely be a nice car.. but current owners are far from screwed.

personally i intend on getting a GT-R. i don't think anything else nissan has (or will build within 5 years of bringing it out) will touch it. i dont care how much power they put in an Versa, Sentra, Altima, Maxima, or even G/Z.

It wouldn't be a bad car. Honda sells a fair bit of Accord coupes. Why can't Nissan tap into that segment. Besides like others have stated the G is a rear wheel drive car and the Altima is front wheel drive. The Accord and TL share many mechanical components. I don't think one takes sales away from the other. AND both those cars are FWD. So you can't really argue that one is a lot more sporty then the other. At least the G has a power advantage and is RWD.
