I think it looks really cool on older hot rods. Not feeling it on newer cars, however.

flat black looks good for old 50's hot rodded chevys and such, but I can't see it looking good on todays cars. Can you imagine designers at Mercedes and BMW putting out flat painted cars? Probobaly not

i bet it's harder to maintain...at least with clear coat, you can always buff out superficial layers to restore gloss.

Hoods on some 60's muscle cars were done flat black and racing stripes were done flat black as well and I thought that was ok. Not sure about the entire car. I bet this shows marks and scratches worse than glossy.

I agree. My father's 69 Mach I had the flat black strip down the hood and it looks great......just not the entire car.
