So I pulled the trigger.

I was shopping an 07 G35 S, 6MT, Prem, Nav against a 335i sedan (prem, cold, sport). Both were great cars but I felt the 335i felt better, looked better, and was noticably faster. In the end, though ironically, it was price that drove me to the 335i. BMW drops their lease numbers in November and it was too good to pass up. Here was the final numbers:

07 G35S 6MT, Prem, Nav,
6 week wait
$1000 out the door
~$630 a month

07 335i 6MT, Prem, Sport, Cold
take it home today
$700 out the door
$610 / mo.

Anyway, the point is to make sure to do your homework...

With a good mf & the high residuals... Bimmers are a very competitive lease.

Hey, sounds like a good deal when you compare the two. It's your money...enjoy the 335i 6MT.

What are the terms? (36 mo.)?

So much of the "BMW is in a different price range" argument (at least for those who are leasing -- which, let's be honest, is a large percentage).

Exactly. The 335i MSRP was a good 8k higher...if I was buying I'd be in a G35. I decided to quit fighting my tendency to trade (purchased) cars every 3 years and just lease instead.

Clearly, BMW is giving much better residual and MF figures to come in less than the G35. And, if you are leasing, chances are you only care about the monthly payment, so that stuff really doesn't matter.

Hmmm .... NO.

When I look at a lease, I tend to look at the monthly payment as the least important item.

You definitely need to know the MSRP, Adj Cap Cost, MF, residual %, miles/yr and duration.
Given all that you can compute the monthly payment yourself. If you just look @the payment, there is no way you can tell if they added some BS fee on your lease (a $1000 fee won't significantly change your payment !!)

In any case, my question to the OP was to understand these terms (since he says the bimmer msrp was $8k more, there are some significant numbers at play here)

I hate to say it man but “You should have done your homework”. The Infiniti dealer was obviously trying to take you to the cleaners. That lease payment should have been more like $550 a month on the Infiniti just using their “Standard Lease” numbers. And the truth is that if you shopped around I bet you could have whittled that number down to about $520 a month if you found someone who had the car you wanted on the lot.

Your BMW lease number sounds about right considering you are paying an extra $8000 for their logo. You do have a nice new car though. Personally I am going to go and do some research on leases so that I don’t throw away $100/month when I go to lease my 07 G35.

Would you have bought the G35 if it was $100 less per month?

Not a big fan of the 3-series sedan, do like the Coupe. Also, Hope you enjoy your car! Only reason I don't lease is because I drive more than 15k miles a year, so I'd be screwed with the overages
