2008 Lexus IS-F

from Automobilemag.com:

After months-years-of speculation, Lexus has officially announced that it will indeed launch a performance division dubbed, simply, "F"(for fast?). The first model, predictably, will be based off their smallest sedan, the IS. Early guesses were that a high-powered V-8 would live under the hood, but in recent weeks there have been rumors of a hybrid powertrain. Lexus put the kibosh on that, announcing that the car will indeed be V-8 powered when it goes into battle against the Audi S4, the Cadillac CTS-V, and the upcoming BMW M3. So far we've seen only this teaser image, and if the outrageous offset, stacked exhaust tips hint at the rest of the car, it should be pretty mean. But will it be enough for Lexus to finally be taken seriously among enthusiasts?

Along with the IS-F, look for Lexus to show off another exotic coupe in the vein of the LF-A concept from two years back. This time, maybe they'll actually build the thing.

If they only offer it with an 8-speed automatic? No. If they offer it with a manual, and give it some serious suspension upgrades so handles well, then yes.

This is great news!

Think about it... Infiniti is now the only luxury division out there that currently doenst have any "performance" line-ups; Infiniti will most likely respond. When? Who knows...

Me neither. IMO, it is rather bland, not eye catching and it just doesn't stand out. Not saying it is ugly, but it seems to blend in too much with the rest of their cars. Not my cup of tea.

Look at the M3 coming out. Nothing fancy there in styling. Im interested in this one only if they do work with the suspension extensively and offer a manual as stated previously. If they dont offer some sort of manual, dual clutch, etc.. option, I would be pretty pissed at them.

Looking at the cutout for the exhaust, something looks funny. Look at the upper and upper left portion of the cutout. Doesnt something look off?

When I first saw the picture I thought it looked good. Then I remembered it resembled something else rather closely:

While the new Camry is ok looking for what it is - a 4 door family sedan, I'd have to see the rest of this "IS-F" to really have an opinion on the look.

I'm betting a G35 Coupe trade in would get you about halfway to what a V-8 500HP LExus IS-F Coupe would cost.
