2002 M3 or 2002 M5?

Well the time has come for a new car and the two cars I have been looking at lately have been the M3 and the M5. I am not to sure what one I want. What would you guys do.

IMO, M5 all the way...

I had an '99 M3 and a '95 740iL. The V8 in the 740 was pure silk.....and I'm pretty sure the 5.0L in the M5 is from the same "family" like the different VQ motors. It's just larger and tuned for more power. (which might make it less smooth than the 740iL) my buddy had a E36 325 sedan and the motor was much smoother than my E36 M3's motor.

But it depends on what you want out of a car.

I got a rev-up lower intake plenum, oem sport tuned sway bars, 19" oem wheels, and a coupe exhaust (b-pipe and muffler) for sale.

Spot on. The M5 is completely different in its driving characteristics. Last time I checked a 2k2 M5 was solidly in the 40's, which ruled it out for me (4 yr. old car for that much money).

People who are considering pre-owned M, I strongly urge you to take a look at a maintenance schedule and pricing. In the pricing menu, M3 always costs more than a 7 no matter what the service is. It adds up.
