They mention that they know the specifics about the GT-R powerplant. Was the part about knowing the 3.7 is going into the new G coupe also a definite? Also, they say the difference is that the GT-R powerplant has the twin turbos, yet the powerplant for the new G has a "TT" in it. If the new G doesn't have a turbo (or 2), why have the TT in the name?

Either way, great post. Sounds like good news.

I don't mind it that much. Maybe that's because i'm falling in love with what's under the hood.

I can't say whether its definite or not. This does sound like the new G will have 3.7L and two small, mild turbos much like the 335i. I can't see why else they'd have the TT after VQ37HR. The new VQ35HR in the sedan already contains beefy internals so a mild twin turbo system should fit just fine without too much change. Plus, to be competitive with the 335i, adding to small turboes that help crank out 315+ hp would make sense.

Hopefully what they say about the 08 G-Coupe is true. It would be nice if they used the 7/8 speed in the new coupe. Guess we have to wait a couple of months until NYIAS

"A tamer version of this V-6, codenamed VQ37HR-TT, will make its way into the upcoming Infiniti G35 Coupe."

its just saying that the engine code for the GTR is VQ37Hr-TT, not the 3.7 for the G coupe. id plan on betting that there will not be a TT for the G coupe from the factory...

The pic in the article is not too far off of a pic I saw last year:

http://www.prestigemotorsport.com.au...php?storyid=21

I like this pic better, minor difference in headlight design and the color of the bumper duct below it.

I didn't read it that way. It seemed to say the G Coupe will have a tamer version of the 3.7 but not with the turbos as that was one of the differentiaters (is this a word?) versus the GTR. With a 3.7, turbos wouldn't be necessary for 315+ hp. In a 3.7 one would expect 350-375 hp or so on a mildly tuned engine. I hope the turbo G does happen though. That kind of power and an AWD would be awesome.

As far as the GTR, awesome sounding car with big potential. It's a shame not to have it in the Infiniti camp though.

^ I doubt that. Everything I've ever seen has said 450 hp or so and torque in a high revving turbo V6 will always be less than hp. Given the performance of the current version will destroy a C6 why would you think the new version will perform worse?

Road & Track also said that they think Nissan left room for tuning. How many people are going a modify 65K+ car? Sure some people have plenty of money and lots of time on their hands. The overwhelming majority won't mod their GT-Rs. Therefore I think the torque will be north of 360. Not much more than 360 though. Just my thoughts.

Thanks. I read that but didn't bother to mention it. There will be more people that complain about the car no matter what it comes with or how much tuning room there is left in it. This is particularly true since the car is such a legend with big expectations and big shoes to fill.

Yes. The specs won't tell the whole story. The car with AWD, awesome brakes and suspension will be a serious machine out of the box. They are targeting the 911 turbo and the leaks that are out so far say it is close.
