Lexus IS adds V-8 for model year '08. (Car and Driver Mar. issue)
The Lexus will have a 5.0 Liter V-8 based on the 4.6 liter from the big sedan. Estimated at 400 HP , no MT but 8 spd. auto.

The performance sedan will get an "F" designation and considerable chassis tweaks according to magazine article.

Methinks this will get Infinitis attention as their 6 cylinder "sports" sedan and coupes won't seem very sporty in comparison in my opinion.

the is-f will go for around $50k I've read. the M45 has a V8. with a little bit of tweaking, it shouldn't have a problem reaching 400 hp.

The IS-F is a POS. Seen pictures of the thing? The car just does not have any genuine race design to it. It looks like they took a regular IS (tamed chick car) and cosmetically added new bumpers, hood, and ugly stacked exhaust. As for the mechanics they took all of it from the LS sedan. It will be heavy and worthless for performance. The times they are posting on their sites are dead even with the 335i. Think they'll catch the new M with those times...ummm...no. How very sad. I give Lexus a "F" for this poor attempt at the performance race.

**** You Red Balls ...... The purpose of my post was NOT to introduce a new Lexus model but to continue the long running dialouge regarding the vast majority here longing for INFINITI to join the horsepower "race".

Whether or not THAT intrests you or not doesn't require a second dumbass here "reminding" me there are other forums........ The point is good, bad or indiffrent Lexus is offering a V8 in their entry level sedan. Their 400 HP sure beats the hell out of our 306 HP. Whether or not they have a MT available, the styling sucks or doesn't suck is not the point nor is another forum for the sake of avoiding A-Holes who have nothing better to do than "order" people around via cyberspace.

if your just looking at hp numbers... which u seem so obsessed about... the nissan gt-r is slated to have around 450. there u go.. go buy one.. u now have a bigger peni$ then the is-f owner.

I thought Lexus recognized their ES350/IS350/IS250 as their entry level models. Considering that the new Lexus isn't even available, definitely WON'T be an entry level model, and performance numbers are speculative at best, I'd say Infiniti need not worry about it.

The G doesn't/won't compete with the new Lex, either in performance or price, when and if it ever hits the road.
