SC 430 (Long)

Ok, let me control my myself now...(breathing deep). My mom and step father asked me and my wife to go to Lexus to check out what is the biggest car they carry. My stepfather owned a 2005 Signature Limited Ed. Lincoln Town car () and my mom has been complaining about the color (black/black) and wanted something more light colored. Before we went there my step father was already set to trade his car for another Town Car (2007) but figured to go to Lexus because my mom wanted to see their selection. When we got there they didn't have the new LS which is the biggest car they carry, so my father just walked around to see what else they have. All this time my wife was just standing right next to the SC 430 and just admiring it. Before I bought the G my wife wanted the SC but I didn't like that there is no MT plus the 65k price tag. Then my wife made a joke to my stepfather about the car which we knew he won't bite because he's looking for a big car. I swear I didn't know I had it in me but I became a car sales man and start showing them the Pros and Cons. Then After 10 mins of talking to them the next thing I know was that my stepfather was in the office talking about price already. To make it short they bought the car that day

Now my take on the car:

SC430 Black Sapphire Pearl (more of a dark blue)/Ecru Leather Trim with walnut accent.

I have never liked the SC430 body style, maybe because it wasn't aggressive enough for me, but after seeing the car on the road, wwwoooww that thing really look good. What really impress me is the interior and the sound system, I say this is be best interior I have ever seen in any car below 80k and the sound is the best I have heard in any stock car. With top up the car is very quite that you won't even know you're driving a convertible. Top Down is even better, we drove top down on the freeway on a 32 Degree cold and the heat was perfectly place that it keep you warm. Driving it with the Top down is unbelievably quite and smooth too. I guess the dark blue color made it more unique. Driving this car make me forget about my passion on driving MT and trade the MT experience for comfort. Man, if I have an extra cash then I'll definitely trade my G but then at that price range i can get an M3 or something else at that range. But I don't think there is any car out there at that price range that can beat the Sound/interior of the SC430.

Wow so they went from an LS430 to an SC430?!? You could put the SC in the trunk of the LS.

Personally, I have always been disgusted with the design on the SC430.

It reminds me of a Beatle or Jetta... They dont look the same, but everytime you look over, there's a hot chick, or gay guy sitting in there.

Nothing against the car itself... just the styling.

sc430 looks ugly stock! but modded is a different story. I almost bought one but like you, i didnt want it cause it wasnt 6mt. Here's 2 hott SC's i found on the net...

yeah some guy had one with a custom TT! but i agree, for 65K i'd get a Z and a G lol

Before seeing your pics and reading your opinion, AthensBlue, I thought the SC430 was "decent", but not my cup of tea. As a stock vehicle, it's too high off of the ground, the rims are weak, the look isn't aggressive enough, and I know that a G35 can smoke an SC430 - it's underpowered for it's size, and it's very heavy. Another point...and maybe I'm being too image conscious about it, but... but the thing that irritates me the most about the SC430 is the driver demographic. I've never once seen an SC430 driven by a young male...everytime I see this car it's being driven by a 50-60 yr old guy, or almost as often, but even worse, I see it being driven by an older woman. That's not the image I want to project from any car I drive - I don't want an "old man's car".
That being said, after seeing the pics of the car modded, it looks so much more appealing. I can almost picture myself owning one...almost

I almost bought one of these before buying my G.... the interior/sound I agree is amazing but I also like the stlying of it as well.

I've always thought the SC 430 had a vague similarity to the G35 coupe. Not as good looking but similar. Maybe its just the headlight area. At least it doesn't look like every car on the road.

I think its ok, but for the cash, i ll rather buy a used M3 and make it look nice . I was checking out used M5, they are only about 70k o_O. If that is the case I would add about 10 grand to buy the M5, since I would be pretty well off to consider the SC430.
