0-60 in 1.9 seconds

In the mid 90's, Jack Roush assisted Ford SVT in shoehorning a Boss 429 motor into a 1994 Ford Mustang. The motor was stroked to 604 cubic
inches. The car was made at the behest of John Coletti, who needed something to compete with a ZL-1 Camaro that Chevrolet Performance had put together. The car ran mid 10's and did 0-60 in 1.9 seconds.

Today, the car is in Livonia, Michigan in Jack Roush's museum. What a wild street car it could have been. The Boss 429 was one of the meanest, bad-a$$ motors Detroit ever put out.

Shane, the Boss 429 was a beast. To me, it was the ultimate in American muscle.

Growing up, that was always my Father's dream car. He had a number of Mach I's with 351s (both W's & C's), but he never owned a 429.

I remember that project and rivalry well, Bill. Those rides were something else..

I bought a new Mustang in '94, but it had only the 302 in it. (wasn't quite as quick. )

Deane, I can't even imagine what 0-60 in 1.9 seconds would feel like. I'd have to shave at least 5 seconds off my G to even equal that.

Is there even enough traction from the tires? And can it beat a VRT G on track? What i mean by track is not drag track

Car & Driver did a magazine article and a program on TNN, now Spike on the Boss 429 Mustang and ZL-1 Camaro. Both cars were beasts and were the products of their respective performance divisions. The Mustang aced out the Camaro in the quarter mile but the Camaro thoroughly defeated the Mustang on the road course. I'd say either one would give the VRT G a good run either at the drag strip or on a road course. Remember, these cars were produced in 1994. John Coletti and John Moss both knew how to bring heavy artillery to a shooting match.

Im still trying to figure out how it reached 100mph in 5.5 seconds, but ran a 1/4 time of 10.5 @ 135mph. This means it took 5 seconds to go from 100 to 135.

Something sounds fishy about this if you ask me, but cool car nonetheless.
