Audi A5, S5 and RS5

Houston (BMW,Infiniti)....... we have a problem!! From what I have read in several sources, the new Audi A5 will go against the 335i, The S5 and RS5 are a little indirect, as the pricing of the S5 will be slightly below the new M3, and the RS5 will be above the new M3, but the RS5 will be right around the GT-Rs supposed pricing (mid 60s). The S5 will have a re-worked version of the 4.2 FSI V8 found in the S4, the RS5 will have the same V8 found in the RS4, all available with Quattro. All I can say is, while Acura (upcoming NSX), BMW (335i, M3), Lexus (IS-F) and Audi (R/S5, R/S4, Possibly -->TT-RS, S3) start to shower us will HP for under or around $50k, what is Infiniti going to do for us? They are in a tough position, if they drop a de-tuned twin turbo version of the GT-Rs VQ in the G35, who will buy a GT-R for $20-30 grand more (similar to 335i vs. V8 M3)?

I just read on wikipedia that the entry level A5 coupe will have the 3.2L V6 pushing 265HP. Now if I'm gonna pay $42K for this car, I believe at least 300 ponies should be minimum in this market.

Good point, but I think this will be priced like A4. The S5 should be around $46 w/340hp

S5 for $46K?? Stop dreaming, . The S4 starts at $47K with 340HP/302TQ. The S5 is a coupe with 354HP/325TQ. I'd expect it to be at least $57-60K.

Love that S5- I'm ready to move up to a V8. Tired of thrashy V6's. I think Infiniti is scared to get any farther into the performance arena- Infiniti doesn't even have a flagship Q sedan right now- that's their biggest hole in the lineup right now. Infiniti is going to skew more towards luxury/gadgets than performance, it seems to me.

Something like this suit you? It would for me, that's for sure.

its not about the prices but also about the reliability -- audi's were hit or miss having electrical issues and also bad steering columns.

They also don't age well. Nothing worse than a clapped out Audi 5000 or A4. It is amazing but both BMW and Audi age poorly and look outdated and worn out after only a few years.

I'll have to disagree with you there. The E46 M3 is a 7 year old design, but that car is still pure sex.

Because an S5 looks soooo much sexier than an M3. I dislike the BMW aesthetics....they're far too conservative in my eyes.

BMW's biggest problem aesthetically to me is the Bangle Butt- Audi rear ends are pure sex- so clean and crisp.

Audi's biggest problem is they don't know how to price their cars. The S5 is going to be ~$48k+ base; what is that, $15k more than a G37 coupe for similar performance, style, and luxury?

i think the S5 will be over $50k base. The S4 started @ 48k, the S5 is a coupe with more power, I would expect it comparably priced to the M3, if not more.
