Question Know anything about an Audi A6 2.7t (C5)?

I belive C5 is 1999-2004.

Just looking to see if anyone owns one, used to own onw, knows someone who did.

Wife's looking for a new car, and we found a nice example close by. Anything we should be looking out for? (I did a few searched on C5 forums, not much came up)

Few pics just for fun:

uses the S4 motor. Gobs of power but the turbos WILL GO OUT. Just depends if you are the lucky one to be stuck with it.

I heard the 2.7t in stick is faster than the 4.2 in the A6. Someone I knew had this car and their motor had to be replaced. But that is the only 2.7t I have heard of doing this. I would recommend getting some type of protection about this issue because you never really know how the car was treated by the previous owner.

hmm, yeah....I've read new turbos are $1500 + around $2000+ for labor. So possibly $4k for blown turbos.

Certified pre owned would cover that, no?

I owned one great car. The all wheel drive is crazy. My wife loved the red interior lights. It's the same car as the S4 just more space and different suspension. You can do staggerd unlike some people will say. $500 chip bumbps you to 345 tq 320hp from 250 stock. Their are many upgrades you can do from bigger turbos to intercoller some intercooler give you about 50 mores horses. Good website audiworld. I loved the car. Used to race my friends S4 al lthe time. I never had and issues with the car had for 2 years. Put 40,000 mileson it in two years.

Great modability, great ride ride altogether. I almost bought one used back in the day instead of the G. Didn't care for the rubbery shifter though. Shouln't make a diff since it seems you are looking at an auto. Looks an older one there since the tail pipes are not showing. What's the mileage?

I currently have one but it's a 2.8 in red as you have pictured. I love the styling and the ride, and it's phenomenal in the snow\rain! The reliability is not the greatest and parts can be rather costly. I would say go for it as long as it has been very well maintained and has lower mileage.

I almost bought one when I was getting my lexus a few years back. They drive great and are powerful cars, but they are absolute junk when it comes to electrical issues. There are countless stories of people having problems of all kinds, just like any other audi/vw product.

There is no chance in hell I would ever own one, but maybe you will be one of the few who gets lucky with it.

Thanks for the replies guys. The car I am looking at has 35k miles, and it's a 2001. That's not many miles per year, so I guess I'm not too worried about it being beat on. In fact, it's oddly low.

I'm thinking a good PPI should clear up any potential issues....that with a warranty should put some of my fears to rest (audi dealership is down the street).

I haven't checked out audiworld yet, but audiforums has been helpful

This is extremely low for an '01. The driver's seat seems to support that. I'd say it's worth considering. Are you getting it for a good price?

Not bad considering the mileage and condition. Is this at an Audi dealership?

Yes, but I won't know if it's CPO until I hear back from em. Might just be a "dealer certified" car....whatever that means
