porsche or 07 g35

I'm debating whether to get a brand new 07 g35 x/sport or used 2002-2004 porsche carrera. I was able to find used porsche for 35g - 45g. Friend told me that the insurance and parts for the porsche will be more expensive than g35x/sport so he recommends g35. What do you guys think i should get?

G!!!!

I think the G sedan is more practical and is still a HELL of a lot of fun to drive.

Your talking apples & oranges, if you want a sedan go with the G, if you want a sports car I would definitely go with the Porsche.

your friend is 1000000% correct about the insurance and the parts AND labor. it depends on what ypu're getting this car for. if its a daily driver, get the g. if its a weekend car get the p-car.

Well, I think there is a big difference b/t a brand new car vs. a 3-5 year old car. It would depend on a lot of things to me, miles, who owned the used car, how well it was cared for etc etc etc. I personally like new cars though, I would probably go with the new G. Not to mention the Carerras are due for a facelift soon I would imagine, making your 5-6 year old Porsche the old body style. Maybe a 1 year old Cayman S?

you could always compromise and have both a porsche and a g, just not a porsche carrera. i love my old 944 turbo and it compliments the new g nicely

The 2 are not even on the same category. I like the G but if you're comparing the car to a Porsche then hands down P-car all the way. Why don't you do your homework and find out what kind of insurance payment you'll have with the P-car. Don't worry about facelift of the car they already changed it to the 997. The year model car you're planning to get is the 996. You can always get extended warranty for the Porsche even when use the car is incredible. I personally like the older P-car like the 993 Turbo that thing is just sick. Wide body and can hold it's own out of the box no need to mod. Goodluck with your choice either car is a winner but a Porsche is a Porsche.

really doesnt matter if its sedan or sports car. Speed wise, carrera is def faster than g. regardless of the facelift, 2002-2004 996 carrera will stand out just because its porsche. The reason why I'm even thinking of getting a porsche is because everyone is driving the same car. You don't really see the new g35 but soon or later everyone will be driving the 07 g35. I hate to be in the same crowd, not that i dont like the new g. If the price is similar (although used), why not go with porsche? Will there be a huge difference in labor, insurance and parts expense?

Take the G, the porsche is going to be quite expensive to maintain. Also if you do end up getting a porsche, only get it with a warrenty

Yeah, I'd definitely rather have a G than a Carrera.
It is more expensive to maintain. A little more than the E46 M3, $150 oil changes every 15k, $1000 dollar tune up every 30k. It is also more fun to drive. '99-'02 had some kind of seal issue. If you can find a clean example that has had those issues addressed, I would jump all over it. And of course you can always work on it yourself.
As soon as I win the lottery, I'm buying a GT3!

I own both; insurance is not more; the cost to maintain is not more -- the porsche is built so well it needs little or no maintenance; just an oil change; if you do take it for repair, you will pay more -- these cars are meant to be driven and last for years, hence the premium
