Thinking about a new car - Help Me Pick!

I think my G sedan is about ready for retirement, what with 74K on it.

I had been waiting for the new G sedan but sadly it doesn't really do anything for me. I think it lost something from our generation, and it doesn't make much sense to me to make what would amount to step down (IMO).

Help me decide what to get in next.

Here's the options, make a vote and let me know why you chose what you did.

2006 Acura RL (Brand New)
2007 BMW 3.35
2007 Corvette "Coupe"

2007 Lexus GS350 <- most expensive of the bunch and probably a touch out of my price range.

2007 Audi A3 3.2 S line <- cheapest of the bunch, and for some reason particularly interesting to me? am I crazy?

I would test drive any of the SRT8 line if I were you. I can honestly say, that after a year +, my Charger puts a huge grin on my face everyday.

Four doors, as big or bigger than any of the cars you mentioned, Mercedes drivetrain parts, and a motor that will embarrass anything else in it's price range. And don't think of them as stripped muscle cars. Better nav and stereo than Infiniti.

Just take a test drive and decide.......

My second vote would be the Vette. Love those cars.

BMW seems to be the most obvious choice, however I question their quality.

I've heard Mercedes powertrain will embaress the SRT8 with reliability issues or they are already have issues.

I voted BMW, but none of those cars interest me. Glad I got my G when I did...hopefully the new one grows on me or I will be keeping my G till the 3rd gen comes out

Out of those I would do a 335 because I am mod happy and that is a mod friendly car.

from those choices i'd take the 335, it's got the quality and luxury and the performance and reputation, second choice would be the vette

Well, you've heard quite wrong. In fact, the SRT forums I belong to (three different ones) are a welcome relief from constant posts about mechanical problems, squeaks and rattles, etc. The forums are actually there for people to talk about how much they love their cars!! Imagine that!

The biggest single Mercedes part in the SRT is the auto tranny. And it's a gem. Previously used in AMG applications and good for 600+ hp. Gotta love it.

Over one year and 15,000 miles and I have not had a single issue, not even a squeak or rattle (I couldn't say that about the G). And believe me, the SRT gets driven MUCH harder than my G did (because it can be).

I like the Lexus out of the bunch. If the GS is over your price range, How about the IS350? My second choice is the BMW.

I would say the 335, but with the overheating issue, I would pass and get the RL.

I say the 335i it has the best resale value out of the bunch, has the best resale value, the only one that includes 4 years of free maintenance, and on a subjective not it offeres the best handling out of it's class and the other's have a older demographic.

Cons are it's not the cheapest but you get alot for your money when you factor in the pros. The car is smaller than your G35 sedan but if you like the A3 that's even smaller. The SRT8 line is nice like DP03 mentioned but american cars have terrible resale value and I think that's a big factor when you want a new car before it hits 100k miles. A3... I wouldn't trust anything from Audi. The Lexus and RL are nice but not the sportiest offering of the line up.

That's puts the 335i ahead of the pack!
