S2000!

I知 thinking about buying a used s2000 for just a play car, I have looked at 2002 and 2004 s2000 (different generations) the
AP1 - 2002 (2.0L)
Weighs 2,275
240 hp (at 8,300)
153tq (at 7500),

AP2 - 2004 (2.2L)
Weighs 2,835
240hp (at 7,800)
162tq (at 6,500 rpm)

The 2004 has a nicer interior but I don稚 really care I知 getting the car more for performance (why else would you get a two seater) so I知 leaning toward the 02' what do you think? S2k owners please chime in

I have an 01 S2k, and I'v drove couple AP2. Still like the feel of 01, suspension is way better, plus compare with the price, I'd go 02, save some money for aftermarket upgrade.
Dude, trust me, 9k redline and 8k is realllllllly different.

What's the difference in price? How about the mileage (of the ones you're looking at)?

i voted you should go for the 02, but if it were me, i'd go for the 04 just out of personal preference. I've worked on and driven an 01 and an 05, i like the looks of the 04+ a little better. Either way you cant go wrong, its a great car, and the smoothest shifting i've ever felt in a stick.

The AP1 is similiar weight to the AP2. If the car was that light it would be a freaking quick car! I believe both has its differences. The AP2 has a lil more torque which helps in city driving but I like the 9k redline of the AP1 better. Plus I got a better deal on it than a AP2. I say go for the 2002 since it has the 2.0 F20C and a glass rear window. I have a 2000 and its got that plastic crap. Anywho I also get 28 mph on highway driving and it's great! AP1 FTW!

AP2 has better suspension geometry and more friendlier to drive.
And of course..."there is no replacement for displacement"

if you want a play car, i would say buy an elise. My buddy traded in his 04 s2k for an elise and loves it to death. An s2k would be a fun track or auto-x car though. I would definitely shoot fora 2004 s2k if you are going this route. Good luck.
