Took a 335i Convertible on a short test-drive

So I get to BMW Northwest in Fife today to see if I can test-drive a 6MT 335i Coupe because I'm 90% set on getting one. Turns out they have no 335i Coupes except for 1 Red one that is locked up in a warehouse and I can't test-drive it.... but they did have a 335i Convert Auto so I decided to take that out for a short (like 5-10 min) test-drive just to see how the car feels (seats, buttons, ac, steering etc.).

Anyways, the seats feel nice and supportive, although the rear seats have less room than my Coupe (I think) but that doesn't matter to much since we have an 07 Sedan as well. I like everything except the non-navi dash. It looks cheap to me without the navigation, I don't know why, but if I get one, I will have to get the Navi just because I don't like the look of the dash without it. I didn't get to get on it cuz there was a little bit of traffic but I did take it up to 80 and it feels nice at those speeds, quieter than my Coupe for sure, don't know about the Sedan though. Fit and finish I would say is about the same as my wife's sedan, at least in my opinion. Cup holders are horrible, but what do you expect in a coupe? My G's cup holders suck just as bad. Anyways, they told me I can probably testdrive the one 6MT Coupe they have tomorrow or Saturday (if its not sold by then)
which I want to do. Anyways I'm pretty sure thats the car I'll be going with. The color I like best is the Sparkling Graphite Metallic, although there was no sun when I was looking at it anymore, i'll have to get a look when the sun is out.

Overall, I do like the car so far, but I want to drive the 6MT and really "drive" the car. Also, the salesman opted to ride along, which I don't particularly like, but with a car this in demand, I can see why. Anyways, so far, I do like the BMW. It looks much hotter in person than in pics. Interior will have to be black w/ Navigation, looks hot there too. The sound system sounds pretty good, although I didn't really test it out too much. Anyways, I think the 07 G35 Sedan and the 08 G37 Coupe interior wise will be about on par with the BMW, but my 03 definately sucks in comparison.

I would think the vert drives a *lot* different....
I don't know the specs, but that folding tin top must weigh a ton.

Yeah I asked to drive a Sedan over the Vert but they put me in the Vert cuz he couldn't find one I guess. Thats the reason I didn't take a long drive, because its a totally different car. I just wanted to feel the inside of the 335i.

One thing I loved about my Z4 roadster what the ability to drop the top while the car was under 10mph. This feature is hard to put a value on. The experience is like non-other. I wonder if the 335i ‘vert has this ability.

I'm going to go take a look at the C6 Vette Coupe and CLK550. Since I am leasing my next car (writing it off on my business) I am looking at the best car for the money. What do you guys think a 27-36 month lease on a Vette Coupe would cost? Also I heard GM leases screw you at the end with penalties and stuff, this true? Anyways, didn't get a chance to testdrive the 6MT 335i Coupe yet, the salesman never called me. Maybe he thought I wasn't serious because I'm only 21? Who knows, if thats the case, I'm taking my business elsewhere. Maybe BMW of Seattle or Bellevue. I'll keep you guys posted as to what I decide.

I went out on a test drive of a Carerra S and the salesman took it off the lot first, and swapped-ends. Actually, I told him I didn't think it was funny and asked that we go back to the dealership and I would test drive the car elsewhere, which I did.

I'm not sure on the lease rates for the Vette. Around here they lease out pretty well but I have heard guys mention money owning at lease end. Not sure what that's about. It's a ton of car for the money - kind of a different animal than a 335i though. 2 seats and small trunk vs 4 and a good trunk, really tightly sprung vs sport-cruiser, etc... If I was going for a "fun" car the C6 vette would be right at the top of my list for sure. I've been driving a lot of them lately and they really did an amazing job on everything but the interior; plus the engine is open to so many mods. Plus they are hot as hell. For a daily driver I obv. picked the 335i; not as much power but a way easier car to live with day in and day out.

I am not a fan of the CLK550; it looks ok but it's kind of floaty (imo), and it isn't a lot of car given the money. $56k base (I think?) and you get a car that is barely quicker (if at all) than a 335i, doesn't handle quite as well but isn't a lot more comfortable at the same time... Ya, I don't know, drive one I guess. I wasn't feelin' it.

How long can you wait? Have you looked at the S5 at all?

I can wait as long as need be, I just don't want to keep my coupe too long since its out of Bumper to Bumper warranty and its an 03.

At this point I'm just looking at pretty much everything without any real decisions yet. I want to drive all the cars obviously before making ANY decisions.

As for the CLK550, its probably at the bottom of my list. I just want to take it out for a spin for the heck of it.

The 335i, G37 Coupe, C6 Vette and maybe the Audi S5 like you said would probably be the cars to look at...

Also wonder how much the 08 M3 will be leasing for... probably out of my range tho.
