Anybody race a new GTI?

so all of my buddies are in the german cars, mainly VW's. two of them just got new GTI's. I haven't raced them yet(ones at an internship in Michigan at Toyota and the others one is on a boat from germany right now). Do you think i'll beat them. I have an 05 Coupe 6mt. The only mods i have done are k/n, z tube, 5/16th, mrev2 ( adding this weekend), Apexi Neo + tune ( this weekend).
I just want some intel before I go into this. And even if i win, which i think i would, they would bitch bc its not a stock car anymore, from what I know, thiers are stock too)
thanks

Seriously. . .take it to a drag strip if you need proof. But, if you recall the VW happily promoting their "fast" and saying that the new GTI's 0-60 time was 7.1s, whoopdie do. It's not "fast." I'm sure you can find their 1/4 mile times courtesy of google. It's got a 200hp ~200ft-lb torque engine, and I'm sure it isn't that light weight. (Weight isn't listed on their website.)

Bottom line, stock us > stock them.

You will smoke him at the drag strip.

These sorts of questions are pretty sad for someone who's an "enthusiast". No offense, but I'd expect an average driver to know this.

Have fun at the strip!

yeah you should definitely smoke them, gti's run high 6's to 60 and the gap in the quarter is just larger

I was pretty sure I could beat him, but i just wanted to make sure. I need to talk alot of smack and i didn't want to seem like a bitch. I don't race my g either so i really wasn't to sure. Its unsafe and gas is $$$
We don't race on the streets, maybe time to time little like first to 60 kinda **** but thats it. Thats what orlando speed world is for.

thanks

Unless you have a very bad launch you will win. Just let the race do the talking.

I've test driven a GTI DSG (<---nice!!) and 6MT this past weekend. Turbo lag was very apparent (compared to my previous STi). The car had very good low-end torque once the turbo spooled up, but it felt pretty "ok" after that. For saying sake, I test drove the Civic Si 4dr also, it felt "zippier" in the mid-range for some odd reason than the GTi, even though torque is substantially less in the Civic.
