Which one to Buy? G35 or Bmw330ci
I already anticipate the responces I'll get on this forum.. But i'm looking into 2 different cars. Both used probably 2003 35k or so miles. The BMW would be my choice, except for the fact a new body was released last year. I like the exterior styling of the g35 and the engine power. I like the overall refinement of the 330ci (very good car in every aspect). Also the BMW 330ci has a SMG option (i've driven only stick for 14yrs, to much trafic driving now). I have mixed feeling about the interior styling of the G35. Back seat means nothing to me.

I looked at both very hard when I was buying. I obviously went with the G because of the exhaust sound, engine performance and the cost of the maintenance when the car went out of warranty.
Do I regret it? Yes. Would I regret 330ci? Yes. This is just how I am. The only thing which would have made me buy a 330ci would have been a SMG. I could not find one in my area which I knew was not abused. The cost to replace the SMG, I believe, is high. It sure does shift very fast, though. Get the SMG of you want refinement. If it is going to be a stick, get the G. |

It all depends what you are looking for, Test Drive both cars back to back if you can, and pay close attention to EVERYTHING, from how it drives, to the seats, and how cold the A/C is etc etc. That way you will truly know what one you will enjoy driving more everyday.
Personally, I love driving my G everyday, and I love the looks people give me. but thats just me

new bmw body style is out, but so will the new g37 in 3 months, so just pick the one you like best based on your experience from test driving it
i had the option of an 05 330 coupe with the m performance pack and i ended up liking my g over it, i have second thoughts sometimes but i love my car and i'm sure if i would have gotten the bmw i would've felt the same way so it's just something you gotta choose

check the link below to see why most of us love our G
What do you LOVE about your G35 Coupe?
This may give you the answer you'd been looking for. I'd test driven both cars you'd mentioned including the Lotus, Lexus, TT & the Z.... I picked the G overall. The only regret I have is that a lot of people seem to want to race me, which most aren't worth the premium gas. The maintenance of the G has been wonderful. The only thing missing when I go to my dealer is the red carpet and my Oscar de la Renta gown - in other words, I'm treated like a queen... Lexus has nothing on my Infiniti dealer according to my friend who owns a Lexus. I just keep with the maintenance and my G just purrs when I drive it. I also own an '02 Boxster and my G is more fun to drive than my Porsche. I've seen some folks post about their Gs having problems *knocks on wood* maybe I've been lucky, but I haven't experienced anything of the complaints and problems some of the guys have had in here. My car has run pretty well. I had a slight problem with the "service car" light (forgot the exact wording) but that was brief and the dealer fixed it immediately. I'd recently bought 4 tires and the cost is minimal compared to the other cars in its class. My sister has a 330ci and her tires where considerably much more than mine. Her maintenance definitely costs much more and she'd had a couple of engine problems with hers. Maybe those problems were just a fluke. Although her leather is much softer than mine, it's minimal comparison. We did race our cars a little bit when we were out in Palm Springs and she was chocking on my dust (sorry Sis) we did it just to compare the accelaration of each of the cars. I was about 10 yards ahead of her within 2 seconds. Maybe it's my driving too... I love the accelaration of the G whenever I ask for it. Although there is some hesitation on 5ATs... but it's marginal. It really comes down to preference. Test drive both back to back like one of the posters said in here to see which one you'd prefer. Good luck in your search. Last edited by G-girl; 04-30-2007 at 09:18 PM. |

From my recollections of the two cars. I fealt like the BMW 330ci had a nicer feel to the suspension. The most recent drive on the g35 was on the sport package w/ 19in wheels etc. etc.. The engine fealt decently stronger in the g35, but I seem to remember the 330ci having a smoother feeling in the reving and during gear changes. This was between the auto g35 and steptronic 330ci. I like the exterior look of the g35. It has a more fluid feel to the body angling. I also like the angle fo the front lights. The interior I'm very undecided on. At first I really didn't find the console to be laid out very well compared to the bmw. Price and maintenance goes the g35 obviously. Name and recognition goes to the BMW. Power goes to the g35. Suspension and refinement go to the BMW. Exterior Styling goes to the g35. As you can tell.. i'm pretty freakin split on this one.

i think i just need to find a dealership that has both cars..
another plus for the g35 is that the closest infiniti dealership is 60 miles + away. So seeing a g35 in the area is usually a rarity. I'm sure I'll figure it out. couple more test drives and the decision will probably become more clear. I did read a review of 330ci vs g35 though. http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...an_comparison/ even thought the bmw seems to come ahead.. It seems extremely close to me. |

I was looking into what I would get if i got rid of my coupe and I couldn't find a car I would like as much that made sense. 335's are nice, but BMW's went from overpriced to WAY overpriced now. I looked at a couple benz's, audi's you name it and I couldn't find something worth dumping my coupe for. I even came close to a M class or g37 (not a huge fan of the exterior changes) but decided stay put for now.

I also did the same comparison before I bought my car in 2004. My previous car was a BMW 3 Series (E36 though) so it was hard to let that one go.
At THAT time there were a couple things that really stuck out between the two cars. I really wanted heated seats (living in DC winters) and Xenon headlights standard. With the BMW I had to purchase the extra winter package. When I configured both cars there was a price difference of around 8K. That to me was just too much to justify getting the BMW. I love the refinement of the car but I also felt the engine felt a lot stronger in the G and I personally love the looks I get in the car. Another factor for me at that time is everyone had a BMW 3 series!! THey were having some promotional lease options in the 200's/month and BMW just isn't exclusive anymore as you may think it is. Does it have name association? Sure, but don't sleep on Infiniti either. The gap is closing.

i believe the G in 6mt is the way to go, but the SMG is great too. IMO the G is much more fun to drive...
