Jaguar X type vs AudiA4 vs G35

Comparing the G35, what car is nearly the same? What is better, Jaguar or Audi?

Thanks,

Re: Jaguar X type vs AudiA4 vs G35

i deffently like the jag more then the audi. i have driven both and the jag is deffently 100% more refind then the audi. The audi is probaly a little bit faster then the Jag. the G was really slow to rev and i dont remember how fast the audi was but the jag seemed slow to rev up. the Jag sounded really cool though. kinda like the way our cars do except not as good. it sounded like a race car sorta at WOT.

Re: Jaguar X type vs AudiA4 vs G35

The X Type is essentially a Ford Mondeo (previously known as the Contour in the U.S.) with a body designed to mimic the larger Jags. You ought to check the reviews at Car and Drive, Automobile mag, and Road and Track. They weren't very kind in their comments. The Audi has a very clean, elegant design, with a best-in-class interior. The G35 will out-perform both cars on the track and in reliability.

Re: Jaguar X type vs AudiA4 vs G35

Go drive them. I looked SERIOUSLY at the X-Type, but when it came down to it you paid more for a bare-bones Jag that BORED me when I drove it. We had an XJ-6, and my mom was looking at the XK8 at the moment... If you're going to get a Jag, you need to get one they do right. We drove the X-Type, S60, and A4 back-to-back, and the A4 was best in the category overall. The S60 was too boxy/utilitarian, and the ride wasn't too enticing. All my opinion, of course, but I drove every friggin' car in this class and researched over a year before I got the G, so...

Re: Jaguar X type vs AudiA4 vs G35

I tested the X-Type. Pretty cramped inside, and I wasn't impressed with the performance. Also alot of really cheap feeling plastic on some pieces inside. Reliability, though better than in the past, is still subpar. The A4 is a nice ride and a good consideration, but still not as reliable as Nissan/ Infiniti.

My next door neighbour has a '97 XK8. Beautiful car, super small on the inside. Last couple of years, spending a bit of annual time in the shop despite only having only about 40K km (~25K miles) on it.

Re: Jaguar X type vs AudiA4 vs G35

The X Type sucks. It is a rebadged Ford Contour that has a tiny interior and costs nearly as much as an M3 when well-appointed. And it doesn't perform nearly as well as other cars costing around $45K. The A4 is definitely a better car. But the G35 is tops in this class.

Re: Jaguar X type vs AudiA4 vs G35

On the other hand, the Ford Mondeo was Car of the Year in Europe, and the european version is what the X-Type was based on. Also, you'll have no problem getting an X-Type well below sticker. And the interior is definitely nicer than the G's (except for the seats), but smaller.

It's a decent car, reasonably pretty and practical, and not a rip-off below sticker. My main problem with it is that it's an uninspiring car to drive. In fact, the reason it's AWD is because the Mondeo was FWD, and they sure as hell weren't going to sell a FWD Jag. So making it AWD was the only alternative. Kind of like the Volvo S60R, which is also a FWD-biased AWD, but is also a better car in every respect except name and appearance (and not much more expensive). I think if you test drove them, you couldn't possibly bring yourself to take the Jag over the G.

Re: Jaguar X type vs AudiA4 vs G35

The X type isn't a Jaguar, so lets talk about the Mondeo, G and A4. The A4 is probably the most "classy" in terms of interior styling, while the G is sportiest in both interior and exterior. I wouldn't call the G a lux car interior except for the leather, the A4 exudes class inside.

If you're going by reliability, then look no further than the G35, mainly because the A4 has had serious complaints about electronics system failures and emissions problems. I like the A4, but I wouldn't buy one.
