Ford Shelby GT vs. Nissan 350z

Well I recieved my new Car and Driver today in the mail and I was taking a look at it and it looks as though the Shelby GT and 350z are about the same as far as acceleration goes. I was expecting the Shelby to smoke the 350z, but it really doesn't. Pretty damn impressive considering the shelby is kind of a "feared name when it comes to racing. The 350z also was a full second faster on the road course

Shelby GT
319 HP & 330 LB-FT
0-30 = 2.1
0-60 = 5.1
0-100 = 12.6
1/4 mile = 13.7 @ 104
Top speed = 147

350z
306 HP & 268 LB-FT
0-30 = 2.0
0-60 = 5.2
0-100 = 12.6
1/4 mile = 13.7 @ 104
Top speed = 156

Ok Nismo. Just go ahead and peg your hopes and dreams that a 350z with irs will compete with a 330ft lbs torque power Stang with a solid rear axle.

By all means, dream the dream

Jeff, i think you are a smart guy, but for some reason have a slight case of mental retardation...here is a great example of what just happened.

Teacher: Jeff go home and read car and driver and give me a report on the "350z" article
Jeff: Fine
Teacher: Jeff, this is a report from motortrend, where is the Car and Driver report?
Jeff: No its fine..they don't know what they are talking about...it's only their jobs - Plus we all know that i know everything!
Teacher: Your a jackass you failed

For some reason i doubt car and driver is going to post something that is way out in left field

There are stock 07 Z's running 13.3 on the 1/4... also, the Z weighs 200lbs less than the Stang. I'm not surprised they are that close in acceleration to each other.

Yeah, Jeff, AKA "Know it all" is at it again, yet this time instead of out to prove me wrong he is out to prove the magazine wrong.

It's not like a bunch of professionals didn't write this article or anything

Motor Trend consistently has been able to get the best times our of their test cars. But hey, whatever. The Z can hang. All the times are pretty close.

Trusting one magazine's times to represent all the Z or Shelby's times is right though. LOL

vstrizheus if you are finding times for the G that betters the mags, then I assure you, the Ford boys are doing the same. For the huge difference in torque, the Z ain't doing to bad. But I highly suspect the mustang's problem isn't power, it's grip.

^^ Grip probably plays a large role. Seems like its a drivers race between both cars though. I would bet from a roll the Stang will take the Z though.

The Z will hang bro. Logic has no place here.

Jeff92se why is it so surprising???
Compare power to weight ratio and it will be more convincing.

The Ford Shelby GT is the greatest rip off attempt by Ford.

I just can't see why anyone would spend so much more money on a vehicle with only a name, and a very few modications over the Mustang GT.

With the few extra thousands of dollar difference from the Mustang GT & Mustang Shelby GT, I could make it stomp on the Shelby GT and still make it look better.
