McLaren F1 LM-Greatest supercar ever made

Gordon Murray, race engineer and designer par excellence, created a masterpiece of engineering and performance when he decided to go a step further and higher above the McLaren F1 road car, by creating the F1 LM. Inspiration for the car came from the race version called the GTR. Many of the ideas used on the GTR were implemented on the LM.

Weight on the car was a svelte 2,342 pounds, 84 pounds than the GTR race counterpart. Performance came from a BMW Motorsport V12 which made 680 hp and 538 ft. lbs. of torque. Brakes were carbon-carbon. The interior was done up in highly lacquered carbon fiber. The car was painted in McLaren orange, a tribute to Bruce McLaren and his Can Am and F1 cars of the 1960's.

Imagine the performance of a car weighing almost 900 pounds less than a Ferrari Enzo while having even more horsepower than the Enzo. Murray's original intent was to create a sportscar that revved and performed like a high performance sport bike. Performance is other-worldly. I believe he accomplished his mission. Oh, to have money. In my dreams.

1996. Amazing stats for a car designed 11 years ago. We may never see a car like that again what with safety and emission regulations. Now, if I can just become friends with Bill Gates, Warren Buffet or an oil sheik, I might just get me one. Want a ride Joker?
