New car for Mom: FX35, Lexus RX350, MDX, Murano, 4 Runner

Hello everyone,

My mom wants a new car and I have been searching a lot on a variety of SUV's. She only needs it for Work, her communte is about 25-35 minutes to work.

Which one would yall choose as far as comfort, reliability, price, and safety goes?

I was down with the 08 RX350 and the dealership offered a decent price for it. I broke the debate between the Infiniti FX or Lexus RX. I want to see if yall had any expierence with the other vehicles.

Thanks!

FX35 ALL THE WAY. My mom got a Murano and she seriously regrets it and wants the FX still.

They are great vehicles. Go get your mom to take one for a test drive.

I had the same debate a couple years ago, and we test-drove and compared side-by-side non-stop for a while... ended up with the FX, and NEVER have looked back. Sexiest damn thing on the road, and it purrs like a lion.

Not quite in the same class as the Infiniti and Lexus, but for the price, have a look a the Mazda CX7 and the Hyundai Santa Fe.
The Mazda is quite sporty and handles well. Very nice in and out. I'll take one over the Murano or 4 Runner any day. If she needs the space and convenience, the Hyundai Santa Fe is tops. Smooth engine and ride. Both are well featured and put together. They are both nice looking too.

cant go wrong with the RX or the FX. My mom has an 04 RX330 with just over 75k on it and the car is still running strong. I just did a transmission flush, brake flush, front & rear diff drain/fill, oil change and alignment on it today, it's good as new. It's never had any major problems, the dealer replaced the brakes for free at about 20k but that's cuz it has some chrome 20's on it. I put new pads on it and resurfaced the rotors at 60k. It's a great car.

My mom just got an FX35 with dubs and she LOVES it. She also had the RX, as well as the MDX, in consideration, but inevitably chose the FX. She loves it - doesn't regret a thing. And dubs! My mom, riding on 20s! hahahaha.

But you can't go wrong with the MDX, RX, nor the FX. Just let her test drive them back to back and let her decide.

Why do you have a 4runner on the list btw?

My cousins mom got a 4runner so he was like its better than an RX, he got a AWD limited one for 40k which i can get a RX350 for 40k as well.

Also guys remember, this is for my mom only she doesnt care about "sportyness".

Out of the RX and the FX, which one do you think will last longer???

I say the RX will be good for her. Extremely low maintaince, the luxury the she deserves, simple to drive/operate, not that I know your mother but I would believe its a style that would be easy on the eyes for her. And super smooth. The FX is cool, I love it. But I think it's a style for the more sport oriented driver.

Hate to say it, but the RX. Superb fit/finish. They both will last, but as for lasting quality. The Lexus wins that match.

If your moms like mine and shes a mellow driver isnt really big about what car it is aslong as its comfortable reasonable and a great drive then she will love the RX because my mom absolutely loves her car.

FX seems more of a rough more lively person type ride.

There both great cars though!

Ya my mom comes from driving a Ford Expedition. She loved the high feeling but gas sucked. I do not want to get her BIG SUV like the nissan Armada, QX45, Lexus LX or GX 470. They are V8 cars and she doesnt want something that she will have to fill up gas all the time.

The milage on the RX is 18/23. The Lexus is pricy, around 39k. Best thing to do now is take have her test drive the RX, FX and maybe the Murano (they are running a great APR special lol)
