OEM paint

i don't think this has been discussed before, and i couldn't find it while searching so...
which manufacturer has the best oem paint?
i'm keeping the poll to luxury brands to limit the list and lumping jaguar, volvo, etc into Ford. Please specify if voting for Ford or GM.

my mom is also looking for a new luxury sedan under 50k. the new g35 is an obvious choice. I like the 5-series bmw, but haven't looked into cost.
The car must have good paint that lasts, unlike the paint on my car which chips so easily.

I got a rev-up lower intake plenum, oem sport tuned sway bars, 19" oem wheels, and a coupe exhaust (b-pipe and muffler) for sale.

In the last little bit, I've detailed my G35, a Porsche Carerra, and am currently detailing an 01 Corvette Convertible. I found the paint on the Vette to be significantly harder than my G and the Porsche. If the rest of GM's vehicles are like the Vette, they would have my vote.

I can't say from personal experience, but I have always heard that Lexus has soft paint as well.

You'll never catch me driving one, but I swear Ford has the best paint and process with GM being a close second. Imports have always been second rate in the paint department. If there's an exception it would be Mercedes just for longevity and not the look.

Lexus has the best colors.

Most paint these days is very soft. Clear bra is a need.

My friends S430 has the best paint and i think is stays that way cause they also have the best clearcoat. I think its one of the most expensive clearcoats.

Of all the vehicles I have owned, my Lexus had the best finish hands down and my 91 Ford Supercoupe had the worst. Bugs and wind removed paint from the T-bird.

My business partners SL500 has really nice paint. Probably as nice a finish as Lexus. The paint on my M5 is not so great. It has orange peel and it chips easy. It is no better than the paint on my 03 Coupe.

Now for a spectacular finish, the Gallardo is a stand out. This picture of a coupe done in Gallardo paint is gorgeous.

my brother's black onyx lexus is300 has the worst paint ever. i was on the is300 forums awhile back and remember reading that it didn't even have a clearcoat. the front end is chipped up like no other. eventually, i just stopped trying to take care of it.
seems like the concensus is lexus, bmw, and mercedes. i've always heard about mercedes and their paint longevity.
