04+ BMW 530i or 03+ Audi S4?

The time has come for me to part ways with my 03 coupe. Approaching 70k miles. It's been a dream car to drive at 21 years old.

Looking for something with 4 dours and i've narrowed it down to these two cars.

I'll be looking at pre-owned. Probably an 04 530i and likely and 03-04 S4.

Obviously i'd be sacrificing some power/speed with the 530i but is it really that slow? Also, i'd have to find one in 6 speed. Was navigation standard in these? It seems damn near everyone for sale on the internet has navi. That's a big plus.

Now the S4 from it appears to be a beast, but it on paper it looks heavy, is this thing a pig? Another downside is the interior doensn't look to be on par with the 530i and this is something that is important to me due to how stale the 03 G35 coupe's interior feels. Also, 8 cylinder's? ugh. I however due absolutely love the look of the S4 over the 530i.

Any input welcome, really on the fence about this one. I really need to go test-drive both but i haven't found the time as of late.

Input welcome

I test drove a 04 S4 Auto with paddle shifters, it was alright as far as being fast, but your right it was a lil heavy. i have a friend who test drove one with MT and he said it was great. Very nice car thow esp. in white. (that was the color i test drove )
ill say go with the S4.
Test drive them both.

As a previous BMW and Audi owner I would suggest the S4. IMO the 530 is a bit to slow and a little bland, the Audi is heavy but I think Audi interiors are much nicer looking. BMW interiors are meant to be simple and very driver oriented, while the Audi interiors look a little cleaner and more modern. Audis tend to push into corners, but do you plan on tracking the car? The Quattro AWD system is excellent, my B5 S4 used to accelerate and handle like a dream in the wet. I wouldn't go with a BMW unless it was an M car, but that's just me. Either way, get a manual.

id take a b5 s4 too. i miss my 2.7t. 00-02 = b5. in 03 there was no s4. the b6 body is from 04-05 and the b7 body is from 05.5-current. if your going to leave here relatively stock, i would go with the b6 s4. if youre going to mod i would get an M3

I miss my Audi also. '02 Santorin Blue S4 2.7T 6mt over grey leather, GIAC ECU 1 bar upgrade. 320 hp, 390 lb ft. Worth more now than when I got rid of it.

I'd go S4....I was scared away from Audi based on reliability issues with a previuos VW, but I don't know that BMW's are that much more reliable--so I'd go S4...

If its 530 then i would go with the S4, If you can afford a E39 540 that would be a sick car to own and i would take the 540 over the S4 any day.
