Wow. Great post. Did any or all of those things happen in your bimmer?

We'll keep that in mind. And here I thought that reliability had to do with bad sensors and fuel pumps. Silly me.

*LOL* they wound up as the 16th most innovative co. in the 5/14 "Business Week." Apple was 1, Google was 2, Toyota Motor was 3, GE 4th, etc. Nissan is not on the list.

By reliability problems we generally mean a/c failure (my friend's '99 323i failed at 2 mos., just in time for the summer of '99--sure enough, black circle on CR), stereo displays going out, brake problems, water pump failures, etc. These are things that happened on BMWs as recently as a few years ago on the 5 Series. That's why I'm cautiously optimistic about the newest 3's, and again, I value what CR has to say. Same reliability as Infiniti? Doubtful, as you can't have it all. But it also has performance the designers at Infiniti are not free to design into the vehicle, as they answer to Nissan Motors.

lmao.... i'm tired of hearing all the bs out of people's mouth's on this forum when it comes to other cars.

i love how everyone praises infiniti quality ... yet a simple search on this forum reveals: terrible oil consumption, blown synchros, bad clutches, and everything else people complain about here.

i especially loved when my car was recently towed and in the shop for 2 stinkin' weeks over a 'fuel management' problem. i've come to the conclusion that nissan quality is nothing special... they're the ford of japan.

my sister owns an '05 audi s5. everybody and their mother claims of terrible quality and expensive service. funny how the only thing that went on her car has been the battery on her fob... meanwhile my 05 g35 has tons of gremlins. she also has 4 years of included service which is free, and i'm paying sometimes over 400$cdn for service.

nice car p_p. i'm thinking of switching to bmw or audi this year myself.

This forum pushed me into test driving the 335, definitely would not have bought it if I didn't join g35driver.

Forums are rarely objective when not discussing hard facts, i.e. the length of the vehicle, curb weight, list price. And there is a tendency to bash what the other guy has, e90post is no exception.

When the day is done, a person should try to spend as much time as possible behind the wheel and make his own decision. It's like buying a house, you should drive by the potential home several times at different times of the day, to get a feel for the neighborhood.

^^You're living in a fantasy land. If you think the BMW 3-series has been a reliable car for BMW, you are hiding from facts.

I know ALOT of 3-Series owners so I am quite aware of the issues with the cars over the years. Do not downplay their reliability by bringing up issues with some other car. ALL cars have issues - but all you need is to look at averages to understand if one car is more reliable than the rest.

By the way, please don't post some JD survey. They're useless.

Just because the car is not AS reliable as some other brands (Audi sucks too), doesn't mean it's a car I wouldn't buy. Actually, I am about 50/50 now on the 335 or G37.

I think John105 said it best, you have to be happy with your purchase cause every day you will see it, possible drive it, and put it away at night. If you have the money and are willing to put it down for anything over $30k, count yourself lucky, research and testdrive all the models, maybe even twice cause a write up may not catch something you will personally have an issue with, seat, position, dash, view, niose, quality, feel, stearing, final cost to you for your config, options and colors, right down to the color of the dash at nights.

Every person writing on the web has an opinion, but its personal choice that you make and you alone have to live with. What good is having a car all of your freinds/co workers drewl over if you dont like it youself? I am not buying a car for the hood ornament, which if you are then of course brand choice is about what the car will say for you & about you.

Me, I want speed, reliability, good looks, good resale, under $45k tops (after all - they all depreciate unless your the General Lee and you go on Ebay!), manual Tranny, (sorry Lexus) and good in the twisties. Since that takes out a lot of cars, my choice is pretty slim, which is good cause I would never make up my mind if I had a bunch of near targets to pick from.

Plus, if I dont make up my mind soon, there will be more choices to review next year, so I had better choose a ride to replace the old mare soon or I will go crazy looking at 2008s/09s/10s/. How long before the car makers start selling 2 years ahead? Can I pre-order my 2020 Ferrari soon?

Not only that, but my fuel pump stole my TV and my non-existent oil cooler overheated my toilet. I bet the car is down there right now leaking coolant that my dog will drink and die.
