Just received my 335i Sedan, questions welcome !

Hi guys,

figured I'd stop back answer questions and provide a review of the E90 335i. PBA review will come around 30 days after ownership.

first impressions...

Extensive configurations (electronic fan control,fans run when car is turned off,fans can turn on at a set time to blow hot air out of car)

lol a speed limiter built into the navi to stop you from yourself , TRUST me this will help. its SOOO incredibly easy to go over the speed limit.

Ipod integration is awesome , if i cant have the integrated Hard drive this IPOD option is actually better.

navigation will never be as easy as the infiniti or others but once you get used to it ... it will work fine.

HD radio works as its supposed to, not many stations are broadcasting in HD and it may bomb... but the quality from working stations is noticible = cd quality .

ride quality feels better then then my 2005 G35 and handling feels equal.

passing performance is great, you have all the torque ready and the pass manuver is quick.

too early to tell for gas mileage due to break in. Even driving with modulating the pedal , speeds etc. im going to get 300 on the first tankful (around 14 gals consumed so around 21-22 during break in so far)

seating is extremely comfortable and the leather... as commented by a friend is "" two steps above the infiniti ""

....not just the leather but the material they use on the interior as well....good stuff

Interior materials comparted to the 1st gen - I agree. The new 07 G sedan has much better material quality. Not that one is better than the other - they are just different.

In terms of leather, I just don't get it. My VW Jetta had the same type of leather as the BMW - It must be a German thing. It's very hard and coarse. It's not that I didn't like it, but I don't see how that makes it better than the softer and smoother leather. My wife's Lexus has nice soft leather and I like that better than the coarse hard leather. In fact, I had a hard time differentiating the BMW leatherette from their leather - they are almost identical.

BMW interior ergonomics stink IMO. Tiny buttons and sometimes no buttons to do what you want. Want to hear Sat Radio? You don't press the Sat Radio button - you hit Audio, then scroll across to Sat and hit enter. Why?

All the above and somehow it is still on my short list of cars to get. There really isn't much out there that I like in the 40-50k range. The G sedan, G37 coupe, and 335 sedan and coupe. Let the comparos begin (begin?)

Congrats! I use to like the 335i but grew out of it after seeing it many times in person.

It looks like a great ride though.

Hope you have the oil cooler, the newest fuel pump, and no issues whatsoever.

Show us the ride when you finally stop driving it Are you planning any mods as yet, body, rims, chip, exhaust? Will you be driving in the winter? I would have to have gotten a spare set of rims and tires to even think about it. But maybe I will still have to do the same with the G if I can manage it. Keep off those TTWins until you break her in, they can track every MPH you do with that computer, good luck.

yes on the oil cooler (6sp sport pkg), fuel pump... uh as far as i know it should be from the same batch of problems... and thanks on the no problems whatsoever I'll need it with this bmw or any bmw

I'll take some more pictures and post it on my msn webpage. I've been very busy with work and family. no mods, rims , exhaust is planned yet. maybe tint shortly down the road, and possibly LED tails & whiter white lights up front.

I'm torn between getting a set of blizzaks or not. my G has been good for my limited driving during the winter and never had any problems.

The twins are running , buddy said i need to seat the valves etc, "so take it moderately up to 4500" " if you baby it... they'll never seat right and you'll burn oil"

Yes bmw tracks everything too many sensors, too many logs, too many computers to break. this is the future so i might as well get used to it

E90 = sedan
335i = 3.0 straight 6 twin turbo
trans = 6 sp manual
sparkling graphite (metallic grey)
options added...
Sport, Nav,Premium,Cold weather,sun shade (side and rear windows... really nice),Comfort pkg, HD radio, 6FL (ipod integration)

everything except AWD,auto,adaptive cruise, satellite & some steering assist crap.

one thing to note the dvd nav drive is right below the CD... uh why for something that would never be touched ? well turns out DVD's can be burned and i tossed over 4GB of MP3's on a single disc. Kinda nice but now its really overkill with a 30gb Ipod, CD, DVD ... I dont have the 6disc changer or satellite.

Guys all i can compare this car to is my 2005 g35 coupe... I hope some audiophile can do a review on the audio systems on the 2008 G and 2007 335i.

my G (auto) was always in 5th gear and it seemed to be tach'n around 26-2800 all the time. the new car im always stuck in 5th and its at 2k (kinda impressed the gas mileage seems to reflect that also)

I keep checking to see if my g35 is listed on the desimone website... i suspect they'll try to sell it for 29,999.
