QX56 - Can anyone point me to more info?

I know, I know... What's a QX56 question doing in a G forum?

Well I'm a happy G35 Owner and I'm considering a QX56 for the growing family. I've seen the FX and M sections, but no QX area.

Anybody here own one? Know of a QX forum? Comments?

from what i read in the last consumer reports, the QX is very unreliable.

Do you remember when you read that article or what model year it was refering to? I know they had a host of problems with the '04 model year, including a massive brake recall.

The only source I've really gotten into is edmunds dot com. The users (owners) give it a 9.0 and the reviewer(s) for edmunds rated it a 7.8 and said a lot of good things about it. The biggest complaint they had were the Exterior Looks (which I happen to like) and cheap plastic molding on the interior. They went on to make a lot of comparisons to the Escalade, but in doing so, made me like the QX56 even more. For example, I like the looks and the size of the QX56 - to get a comparable sized Escalade, you have to step up to the ESV which is more $ and IMO takes away from it's looks. And FWIW, the Escalade's appearance has come to represent something I don't want to be associated with.

Anyway - anyone here own one? Have any opinions on them? Know of a QX56 owner's group?

Well we have an Armada ('04) - basically the same fam. as the QX. The '04's have been plagued by a bad name, however, there's a few lucky people, like my dad's Armada, that haven't been cursed. We only encountered the brake problem, but that was fixed right away. Our tailgate has started to rattle, but there's a fix for that. The '08s have EXTREMELY been upgraded in every aspect and basically has all the tech goodies which you can find in the Infiniti's (like the new GPS system in the '07 G35, etc.). The interior of both the Armada and the Infiniti have been significantly upgraded. The exterior of the QX has been slightly changed, but there's a very noticeable change for the front of the new Armada. Come over to www.clubarmada.com and discuss any issues/questions you have about the QX over there as we have people who own QX's too. I'm also 'hullio' on that forum .

We love our G35, but the famliy has grown too big. Infinity is offering 2.99% financing on the '07 QX56's and the local dealer is starting at a flat $6K off any sticker on the lot. If I could wiggle the price down more, I might bite AND keep the G35.

Hullio - Did you compare the Armada to the QX56? I wonder how much I'm getting for the $$ when I go with the Infiniti version. So far, my Infiniti service has been spectacular and that alone is worth some $. Also, the warranties tend to be a longer. But how about other features? Anything you've noticed?

Well, much to my wife's shagrin, I can't pull the trigger on a vehicle with the kind of ratings I read from Consumer Reports. I know it's getting better and the BIG issues with the '04s look to be resolved.

We both really like the looks of the QX56, interior and exterior. With each year showing improvement over the previous, here's to hoping the '08s make the grade. Now I'll have to wait a year and try to catch one of these with incentives when the '09s hit the lot!
