Done Deal IS350 Pass on G37
Hi guys.... Well, I made the decision and ordered a 2008 IS350 will all options. The G37 is a nice car and performance between the two are essentially the same with the IS350 taking a slight lead per the recent Car and Driver specs. Two main factors lead me to the IS350; 1. Lexus interior and build quality is superior, and 2. The Infiniti dealerships are simply jackasses. There is NO WAY I am willing to pay MSRP for a G37. It is a nice car, but not MSRP nice.
Good luck to you G37 (to be) drivers! See you on the road....

heh you should have seen lexus dealerships when the IS was about to come out. when i tried to enquire what the price was, they immediately said "oh there's no negotiation"
i just wanted to know what MSRP was for the one i'd spec'd out. ridiculous.

Dealerships have some nerve. No integrity. Now that the IS350 is entering model year 3, there is plenty of negotiating room.

Hope you enjoy your ride! If I had to settle on a sedan at the moment, I would've gotten the IS350 as well.. theres something about its styling I just love~ Its got this aggressive, sporty stance that I just dont see in the G35 sedan or BMW sedans.. My only gripe with that car is that it doesn't come with a manual .. (and magazines continue to slam its hindering traction control that cant be completely turned off)

The 06 IS350 traction control can't be completely turned off. The 07 and later can be turned off and from what I gather, there are a few more new tricks to be revealed when the 08 info is released at the end of next month.
Don't get me wrong, I am most fond of the G37 but simply not willing to pay MSRP for anything. I too think the IS350 has a very aggressive stance. |

I like the IS350, but that car needs a new suspension. It's too soft and that doesn't go well with the short wheelbase and weight. I am not talking about lower the car 2" all around, but rather some shocks with controlled compression and rebound that will allow you to slalom the Is350 without feeling like you will fly out of the window. Oh yeah, the backseats are better than the IS300, but it's still too small.
Other than that, it's a great car. |

you will definintely miss the handling of the s2k and evn the g37 compared to the IS350 but it definitely will be a smooth and great looking ride... curious tho.. how much are you getting it for? and what do you expect infiniti to sell the G37 it at its release... it will be a hot car and all dealers do that..

I'm ready for a change from the S2000. I ordered a 2008 IS350 Sapphire / Cashmere, Sport Pkg, Nav/Mark Levinson Pkg, Rear Spoiler, full ground effects, wheel locks, cargo net, and a few other small items. Upon arrival, a Greddy exhaust will be put on. Not including ttt, the IS350 is just over $42k (MSRP was about 46k with all options). I realize that a loaded G37 at MSRP would be less than the IS350, but the money is not the issue. I simply will not pay MSRP for any vehicle and give the sales person / dealership 4k over invoice. Three Infiniti dealerships were firm, MSRP and they had the nerve to state, "order now and we won't put on any addendum fees". They are simply NUTS!
Again, in no way am I knocking the G37 but please, it is an Infiniti. Infiniti rates below Lexus for a reason. Just as Audi rates below BMW. Sort of like second tier. More so, the Infiniti dealerships seem to play games. JM Lexus was straight forward and the deal was done in less than an hour; no hassle, fair deal, respectful, with no games. |

Thats your subjective thoughts.
I like the Is350 also and thus far it is faster than g37 from the data we know. good choice, and pics! ![]() Also, there was actually two reviews, C&D and edmunds. Quote:

You shouldn't be knocking Infiniti for asking MSRP for a car that is not even at the dealerships yet. Every car in this class would be treated the same way for the initial couple of months of release and will change very soon. You're also focusing on MSRP prices and ignoring value for money. You are purchasing a car going into the 4th year of production which will soon be replaced by a new model. That is going to count for something in another year or two. Your comments about interior quality and build quality are subjective as is your statement about Infiniti rating below Lexus - like being second tier. Given your perception on this you're making the right decision with the IS350. G/L with the new car. |

lets just say that if the g37 didnt exist i too would be considering an is350.. but i woulnt be as happy. 4 doors is not in my mission statement... we're talking about different cars here.. a two door sports coupe or a four door family car that has a hint of sport in it. W/out MT its not going to happen either (that's a personal decision).. plus the back seats are so tiny.. why have four doors? anyway.. i like the is350 but those factors alone (for me) are deal breakers. little things like no 3d view in the NAV and the quality of those materials is another thing (a bit too plasticy for my taste) i dont like about the is250/350.
enjoy the car.. as i'm sure it'll put a smile on your face. I trust if i were to buy a lexus i too would enjoy the car.. i just fear that after a while those things above would eat at me... ... agree with the poster above.. if lexus made an is350 MT sport coupe i just might stand in line and pay MSRP for it!
