Ford renames all its cars 'Taurus'
Not that I care, but...First the 500 becomes the Taurus, now the Freestyle is changed to the Taurus X. WTH is next? The Taurus P(ickup)? The Taurustang? Maybe they will rebadge the MKZ to CLE and call it the CLE Taurus. Now THAT'S marketing.
  This is so misguided IMO, some dim-bulb at Ford realized "Hey, we sold a lot of cars called 'Taurus' so let's name our cars 'Taurus' and we'll sell millions more!" Apparently this person didn't realize that there was simply a large demand for boring, utilitarian domestic cars at that time. It reminds me of the movie The Jerk (stay with me here) where Navin Johnson (Steve Martin) is being shot at, but the bullets keep hitting oil cans. "It's the cans!" he shouts "He hates these cans! Stay away from the cans!!"

These cans are defective...
Taurus + Focus = Toke-us.. The heads will love that one. LMFAO! Great thread man... Not to mention the chaos over at Lincoln where everything is morphing to meaningless three letter designations. WTF is up with that.

When they stopped using Taurus for the name of their wagon and sedan, why would they not return to the previous set up when Ford decided to drop the 500 name?
“500” was from a previous model, which the previous Taurus came from. History is key.

I read that Ford was returning to the Taurus moniker because of the success of the brand prior to the 500. I never knew the brand was successful. I didn't know that car companies measure the success of a brand by it's adoption in the fleet markets...

Geez, like the Taurus was such a great car, I don't know why they sold so many, most people I knew who owned one had nothing but trouble with it.
