Current Car is sold! What made you choose this over the 335i?
Title says it, i dont think is fair for me to ask on a bmw forum (e90post) with ALL those fanboys that hate everycar besides a bimmer, ferrari or benz...got SOME good responses tho that were realistic, my whole thing is this...
G35s-AWESOME interior, great power, good handling, more masculine in my opinion than the 335i (maybe not the coupe, but def the sedan), wayyyy better gadgets and cool things that would put you up in the 55k range if u had all the same options in the bimmer, seems more reliable (u dont see any g's in the shop for engine problems, maybe small interior items but nothin big like the 335) 335i-supposedly overall better "feel" for the road (im sure alot of you on here test drove one before) i opt for the coupe if i were to get one, cuz i cant stand how the 335i sedan looks like every single freakin bimmmer on the road, wow does that suck, sleeper yes, but annoying as well, fuel pump problems scare me cuz i dont wanna be workin my *** off for a car thats gonna sit at the dealer...the thing i love about it is the power that can be added for not alot of $ (the wonder of twin turbos), for 600 bucks u can get a turbo tuner and be in the 340 whp range, and the other thing i love is coral red interior... Everyone says this, test drive both, obv you will see wut u like the best...couldnt agree more, as i havent test driven the 335 yet but ahhhh besides the nice leather in bmw the interior is horid! Also: I think its the turn blinker but i dont own one yet so dont quote me! i think it kills the whole clean-ness of the front of the car with that big yellow piece in the headlight) has anyone found a clear "corner" piece to replace this? my 2004 Srt4 is being picked up on Saturday!! i have a bmw dealer 1.5 miles down the road and the other direction 1 mile down is an Inifinty dealer lol...im torn! (but leaning towards the G since I am 99% sure i can get a better deal) price is extremely important, from wut ive read the only reason i think i could MAYBE afford the 335 is because of the great lease programs BMW supposedly has, my mom knows the owner of the Infinity dealer near my house so I know the lease payments could be much lower than most ppls) Last edited by boostnmuscle; 07-04-2007 at 11:40 PM. |

G35 problems:
Everyone: Check Your Oil! Poll: Oil Consumption It sounds as if your looking at a used 2003-2004 model. The coupe headlights were interchangeable with the cleaner later model. I cant say for sure but I think the sedans are as well? I'm sure someone else will say for sure.

So, far the only thing I heard wrong with the new sedan is the key fob and HD unit going out...But its not that common yet...But everyone that has the new Sedan G35 loves it. I would have gotten it if I wanted a 4 door. I think the new Sedan has a sexy looking style...
My 2 cents...

The 07 sedan is a nice car. I had it for 2 weeks. but i rather drive my 6mt coupe.
the interior of the 07 is ok.. i might look better in black. |

The thing that did it for me was i felt the G35 was better value over the 335i. With the 335i being one of the most expensive i expected it to be the best in everything, but i found the interior to be lacking for a 70K car (cdn) and it still did not have all the luxury items of the G35.
But i think it goes this way: if you want luxury over sport then the G35 is a better car, if you sport over luxury the BMW is a better car but the sport comes at a hefty price, you really got to want sport. And not saying that the G is not sporty but the BMW excels over the G in this area. |

I recently was between the two and went for the G35. I wanted the best combo of luxury, sport, and technology that I could get, and the G35 is it. Think of it as a combo of the IS350 (technology), 335i (sport), and C350 (luxury). I personally hated the 3-Series interior and iDrive, and those are two very important features to me.
The 3-Series is arguably a better drivers car, and if that is important to you, then go for the 3-Series. While a 3-Series driver would just tell me I chose the G35 because I can't afford a 335i, the fact is that I could have easily afforded a 335 similarly equipped to my G35S, but I found no justification to spend the extra $13,000 or so for the advantages (slightly better performance and nicer leather seats) of the 3-Series, while the G35 offered more technology, a better nav system, and a far nicer interior.

I agree but do you really think the 335i has nicer seats??? i found that to be one of things really lacking in the 335i. I found the seats nice but the g35 seats to be way better... |

I am going to put my flame suit on now.
The 335 is the better vehicle, all the way around. It has beat the G35 in virtually every objective category. Zero to 60 isn't even close, they are running less than 5 seconds and 1/4 mile times are great. Included maintenance and better resale value too. Plus, what most people here probably don't realize is that you can get a 335 for much less than you think if you are willing to get one via the European Delivery program. You can usually pick them up for about $1,000 over invoice, or lease one with sport and premium pkgs for essential zero down for about $465 per month at 6% sales tax (I know, I have done Euro Delivery a couple of times and it is really great, driving on the autobahn etc.) The reason I went with a G35 was I get the highest and best employee discount. But if you don't get that, you can get a 335 for only a few thousand (at most) more than a G35. THe only advantage I think the G35 has is reliability; the twin turbos in the 335 scare me a little. They have been having problems with overheating (oil coolers) and fuel pumps. |

Hey, at least power seats are standard (they aren't on the 328). If you are going to compare a loaded G35S to a similarly equipped BMW 335i, it goes a little something like this: G35S - $32,250 Automatic transmission - $1,200 Premium Package - $2,350 Navigation - $2,100 Tech Package -$1,100 4WAS - $1,500 TOTAL: $41,215 Now, let's equip a 335 just like that. Start at $38,900, and here we go... Automatic Transmission - $1,275 Sport Package - $1,700 (standard on G35S) Paddle Shiftters - $100 (standard on G35S) Active Steering - $1,400 Premium Package (adds leather, bluetooth, Homelink, compass mirror) - $2,550 Heated Seats - $500 Comfort Access (keyless ignition) - $500 Active Cruise Control - $2,400 (more than double the cost of the G35's tech package!) Navigation - $2,100 (without harddrive and touchscreen) Fold down seats and ski pass through - $475 Satillite radio - $595 Metallic paint - $475 TOTAL: $53,270 AFS and a back-up camera are not available. No doubt the 335 is a great car (I love it and I'll probably be getting a 335 cabrio next year), but to try to argue that it is a good value compared to the G35 is ridiculous. Also, if you lease, as you said, you can get really, really good deals on the 3 (or any BMW), as BMW has some of the absolute best, if not the best, leasing programs. You still aren't going to get a 335 for 0 down and $465 a month, though. Best deal on a stripped 335i sedan with automatic and metallic paint going on right now is $2500 down, $505 a month.
