325xi sucks!!!

my friend just got a BMW 325xi and he took me for a ride in it yesterday. Here in philly...the roads are pretty bad and kinda icy. So i figured yea that car's gonna be great in the snow...all wheel drive! let me tell you something guys...that car slid more than my rear wheel drive G35. That all wheel drive system sucks pretty bad! i was really shocked actually! but there is one thing i liked more about that car than ours. Their HID's are amazing!!! You can see everything so clear and its very bright. But as far as the all wheel drive...its TERRIBLE!!!

haha... that thing has to be really slow, esp if its tiptronic.

is there a 325xi? i knew there was a 330, didn't know there was a 325xi.

also, bmw has no experience with awd except for the x5 and new x3, so they deserve some props. the car prob did not have snow tires either.

The 325Xi is about the same price as the G35x. I looked at both when making my decision. The G totally over powers the BMW, 190HP compared to 260HP HA! The all wheel drive does take some getting use to. When it comes to the BMW just getting it to move in 3-4 inches of snow was a challenge. I'm sure the Xi has no problems getting the car to move. The one thing I needed to get use to with the Gx is being aggressive in the snow. You kinda have to do the opposite of what you would think to make the car drive well. Driving like a sissy at slow speeds made the car plow. But when moving slowly and giving the car gas would make it go where I wanted. It was weird at first, maybe the same thing is happening with the BMW. A big empty parking and a lot of snow made me understand the all wheel drive system. Maybe that's what your friend needs.

If it's a G it's 4 me!

i guess you're right...but to tell you the truth it had no traction what so ever...he was fish tailing like no tomorrow! i was really shocked! i would choose our Gx over that beamer x anyday of the week!

Well, before you say it just plain sucks, can we ask what kind of tires he had on the car? In snow, tires can make all the difference.

i almost bought a 325.
was looking at the 3 series wagon, but wanted it in a 3.0 ltr. they don't make it nor are there plans to. ordered a 325 wagon, but was told it would be 4 months. by then the 04's would be out but they still wanted to sell me an 03.

they said i could get an AWD, but i passed.

this would have been the fastest car i owned since my first 25 yrs ago. then, i drove to the infiniti dealer.... history

no way man...

bmw did have their awd experiences before x5 or x3. Something called 325ix... they were based on e30 bodies.. I don't know any other AWD but for your information BMW did have their AWD experience before the new 325XI.

Your friend should have waited. The 05'-06' 3 series is going to have an updated AWD system that supposed to compare with Infiniti's, more room (also to compare with the G), and the IDrive system. Also the 330 is going to be looking at 260-300HP, But!!!! the car without any sports package is going to be very plain looking and BMW is doing this on purpose.
