Its called R12. You need to be licensed to handle or puchace R12. You can convert to 134a but i wouldnt reccomend it with such an old AC system. If you go to any AC shop the can do it for you. I paid 250 for a full recovery oil and fill for my old 92 MR2.

Yes that kind of freon. R12 is commonly used in large commercial refrigeration systems. However some auto shops should have it or be able to get it for a higher price of course. Conversion to 134 will cost a fair bit but in the long term could be a good investment if you are keeping the car and want to maintain AC.

no place is allowed to use r12 anymore. you might get lucky and find someone with some but it is likely been recovered from an old car. just convert it since you have a leak in it anyways.

well i just got a new condenser... im gonna fill it with this stuff called freeze 12.. its a replacement for R12 and its supposed to be better and you dont need a license to buy it..

now i need a drier....heres the car.. i just got it a few weeks ago and its in great condition but it needs some repairs.. first im doing the AC, and then im gonna replace all the drum brakes, since they are undersized, and it doesnt have power brakes. then i need to fix some oil leaks and transmission leaks, but mainly are small, barely noticable leaks. then i need a new gas tank.. i think theres a hole in the top of it, or the line from the sending unit is cracked..but anyways its a fun car to drive =)
