I would hope it has cooler gizmos, since it's the equivalent of Infiniti's Q45. They're flagship luxury sedans.

Re: Acura plays catch-up with upcoming awd, 300 hp RL

I'm getting a little annoyed with these FWD car makers bolting a little extra to the tranny and calling it AWD to make it seem more prestigious. There are handling differences between a front-biased AWD like Volvo's, a rear-biased AWD like Infiniti's, and a neutral AWD like Subaru's. I mean, I'm assuming it's just a modded FWD tranny since they refuse to develop a RWD tranny for their luxury cars for supposed economic reasons (despite the fact that EVERYONE is asking them to do it and they have a very successful example in the S2000).

They seem to have overlooked that the S2000 is also RWD in the article! For shame!

Re: Acura plays catch-up with upcoming awd, 300 hp RL

Hmmm- the article was making ref to Acuras- pretty sure the s2k is a honda, despite the fact that the parent co for Acura is Honda.
JD, there has been a lot of talk of several Hondas/Acuras having two drivetrains (one hybrid), including the next NSX. Having whipped a friend's WRX for for a couple hours, I'll tell you it's anything but neutral, and heck, even the G and Z push at the limit. The S60R gets heaps of praise. As does the S4 and RS6. I think we live in interesting times. 05 and beyond will continue yield widening differences in design philosophy, the likes of which we haven't seen in a long time. The end result of all this is cars like our G- I'm all for it. R&T summed up well when saying the TL was just a rear axle away from being a great sports sedan. Kudos Honda for recognising the limitations and thinking outside the box to address them.

Cheers,
Derek

Interesting fact: Honda S2000's are built in the same factory as the NSX.

the person that designed the nsx engine also designed the s2000's i think.

Re: Acura plays catch-up with upcoming awd, 300 hp RL

finally! the AC has come back... to regular car standards....

this will be exciting to watch... but i think they will need to change the look in order to really make an impact. right now the styling is just too conservative... but with the looks of the tsx and tl, i assume the rl will follow that vein in some way..
