Traded my Troubled 07 TL Type S for an 07 G35 Sport

First, let me say I have been a loyal Acura and Honda Owner for the past 20 years. Here is a list on Acura's I have owned.

1987 Integra
1989 Integra
1991 Legend Coupe
1993 Legend Sedan, Totaled and saved my life!!
1994 Legend Sedan
1998 SLX, We moved up north and needed a 4 wheel drive.
2001 TL Type S
2004 TL
2007 TL Type S Traded!!

My Wife has also had 2 Honda Accords and 4 Honda Odysseys.

I bought my 07 TL Type S last January. It has been back to the dealership 8 or 9 times in the past 8 months for a variety of reasons. The main problem was the rear suspension. I spoke to Acura Client Services a couple of dozen time. They told me the noise in the rear suspension is not a defect, it is just a loud suspension. The Regional Service Manager drove my car and told me mine was louder due to the 18 in wheels. I had factory 18 inch A-Spec Wheels on the car. I could not live with this problem. Acura was not going to do anything about it accept replace a few bolts and a dampener. No compensation, nothing. To top it all off the last time I brought my car in they chipped one of my A-Spec Wheels.

I GAVE UP!! I just could not drive a car I have come to hate. Acura has lost a very loyal customer and they could care less.

This is what I had.....

And this is what I just bought and all I can say is WOW!!

If you are thinking of buying a new TL, you owe it to yourself to drive the G35 Sport. I wish I had driven the G35 Sport first because if I did I wouldn't have bought the TL Type S. Yes the TL Type S has a very nice interior, but the G35 Sport has a much better ride and a lot more creature comforts. It cost me about $7K to trade my Type S for a new G35 Sport. The money doesn't matter. Piece of mind does. I could not be happier with this new G35 Sport!!

Boy, do I ever hear that. That's why I traded in a Lexus ES 330 with 21K miles and no major problems. I just could not stand it any more. I love my G.

Congrats on your new car! She's beautiful.

TL and G35 Sedan

I was struggling with this decision for months, before ending up with the G35. I loved the interior, and the exterior looks of the TL (non Type-S). Too bad there was more torque in the steering, than in the engine itself at low-end.

But all kidding aside, I really like the TL. It'll be on my shopping list once again, when my lease expires in 2010. I'm hoping by then it'll have SH-AWD.

Just curious, how come you had A-Spec wheels (from '04-'05) on your 2007 Type-S?

great trade...i myself like the type S alot and also considered the car...though never test drove it. Your G looks exactly like mine, black on black S w/ spoiler. Enjoy it bro.

Congratulations on the new purchase. I've only had my G35X for a week now but I was also debating between it and the 2008 Acura TL-S. I actually preferred the interior of the Acura as I loved the layout and look with the red lighting but ultimately I found the Infiniti to look sexier and drive nicer than the Acura. Also, the AWD offering on the G35X made it a no-brainer for myself seeing as how I live in Chicago. The Acura was fun to drive and I love that it comes fully loaded (although it is a little pricier than the G). During the test drive, I felt like I had to drive the Acura harder to get comparable performance as compared to the Infiniti where it felt faster and handled better no matter how easy or hard I was driving it. You could definitely feel the torque steer if you gunned the Acura from a stop and tried to go any way besides for straight. Lastly, I've heard that the rear suspension problem you described is fairly common in those cars. You made an excellent choice and you will not be disappointed!
